Kottan Basket – Natural / Palm Leaf / IND

Now available again.

Handwoven from palm leaves, this lidded basket has a soft texture and a gentle natural sheen. Its warm cream color and distinctive triangular weave bring a natural warmth to everyday spaces.

The three sizes suit a variety of uses. The smallest works well for accessories, stationery, or tea tools, while the medium size is useful for sewing supplies or cosmetics. The largest size is ideal for storing towels, socks, and other daily essentials.

With its lid in place, it helps keep things neatly tucked away. At the same time, the basket itself adds a light and welcoming presence wherever it is placed.

Brooch “Gogh”_Grapevine

From Kaoru Saito’s current collection, we would like to share one of her grapevine brooches.

While the outer surface of grapevine bark is often used for baskets, this piece instead highlights the reverse side of the bark. By drying and resting the material over many years, deep reddish tones and a quiet sheen gradually emerge.

The name “Gogh” was inspired by Van Gogh’s painting The Red Vineyard. Kaoru Saito was deeply moved by the glowing evening landscape and the powerful atmosphere within the scene, which later became part of the image behind this work.

At the center is a delicate decorative knot, surrounded by boldly layered grapevine bark. It can be worn on clothing, or attached to a bag or pouch, allowing the rich character of mountain materials to be enjoyed in everyday life.

We are pleased to introduce a new addition to our collection.

Small Storage Box / 2sizes

Handwoven from Krajood grass in Thailand, this lidded storage box is one of the more compact sizes within our Krajood basket series. It is especially well suited for organizing the small things that tend to gather around us each day.

Use it for stationery, notepads, medicines, tea and coffee supplies, or small snacks. By keeping these items together and closing the lid, a shelf, desk, or countertop can instantly feel more orderly.

Lightweight yet sturdy, the box holds its shape well and is easy to use throughout the home. It also works nicely in a bathroom or dressing area for storing everyday essentials.

The calm texture and natural color of Krajood blend easily into a variety of interiors, making it a practical companion for daily life.

Our shop will also be open tomorrow, May 30, from 11:00 to 16:00. If you are visiting us in Tokyo, we would be delighted for you to see this basket in person.

We look forward to welcoming you.

Good morning.

We will be open today, Friday 5/22, from 11:00 to 16:00.

Although Kaoru Saito’s special exhibition has now come to a close, we are still continuing to introduce many of her works at the shop.

Today we would like to share her pendant series.

Using wild grape vine, walnut, and akebi vine, each pendant is carefully shaped into a playful and distinctive form, full of character and quiet charm.

They pair beautifully with a simple dress or shirt, adding a small accent drawn from natural materials.

Please enjoy finding one that feels right for you.

These pieces are also available through our official online shop and Etsy. We warmly welcome you to visit and see them in person at our store as well.

Introducing playful one-of-a-kind card holders specially presented for Kaoru Saito’s current exhibition at our store.

_Card Holder “Jeje” ‐ Walnut Bark

These card holders are woven from walnut bark, a material known for the natural contrast between its outer and inner colors.

Each piece has a different size and shape, giving them the feeling of small objects rather than uniform holders. Even when simply placed on a shelf or table, they bring a light and enjoyable presence to the space.

Cards and notes can be slipped into the wire loop at the top. The wire is intentionally attached with a slight movement to it, and can also be gently bent into different angles depending on how you would like to use it.

Placed in an entryway, on a desk, or hanging on a wall, they quietly add a small sense of fun to everyday surroundings.

Introducing a one-of-a-kind basket specially presented for Kaoru Saito’s current exhibition at our store.

_Handled “Wave” Basket Large ‐ Akebi Vine

This large handled basket is woven from Akebi vine using a weaving pattern called seigaiha, inspired by the movement of waves. The flowing pattern gives the basket both strength and softness, and the name “Wave Basket” comes from this distinctive weave.

The large arched handle is made from the inner core of wild grapevine after the bark has been removed. It is a material rarely seen in this form, supporting the structure while adding its own unique presence.

It can be used for holding fruit, or simply placed in a room as part of the space itself. The combination of Akebi vine and wild grapevine creates a texture that continues to draw the eye over time.

Bread Basket ‐ Gray Akebi Vine

This item has just been restocked.

This basket is woven from akebi vine that has been stripped of its outer bark using hot spring and river water. It has a soft gray tone, different from the natural brown of untreated vine.

The weave is a tight, regular pattern known as nami-ami, creating a clean and balanced structure. The smooth surface feels gentle in the hand, and its color shifts subtly between pale gray and white depending on the light.

It works well for carrying bread or packed meals, and can also be used for picnics or daily shopping. With use, the color gradually deepens, and the texture becomes more familiar over time.

Kuba Hat
Fan Palm / Ishigaki, Okinawa, Japan

This item has just been restocked.

This hat is made on Ishigaki Island from the leaves of the fan palm, known locally as kuba.
Its large, sturdy leaves have long been used in island life as protection from sun and rain.

Two types are available—one used at sea, the other in the fields.
While both serve the same purpose, their shapes differ slightly, reflecting the environments in which they were used.

When placed on the head, it feels remarkably light, almost as if you are not wearing it.
It allows you to work with both hands free, gently shielding you from sunlight and light rain.

Born from the island’s natural materials and the ingenuity of daily life,
it is a tool made to be used, gradually becoming part of one’s routine.
