Wagashi are traditional Japanese sweets.
Unlike cakes or cookies, many wagashi are made with mochi, rice flour, sweet red bean paste, and other simple ingredients. They are soft, delicate, and often enjoyed with tea 🍵✨

🍡 Dango
Chewy rice dumplings on a skewer. Simple, cute, and one of Japan’s most classic sweets.
🍂 Yatsuhashi
A famous Kyoto sweet made with rice flour and cinnamon. Often folded into a triangle with sweet red bean paste inside.
🍓 Daifuku
Soft mochi stuffed with sweet filling, usually red bean paste. Sometimes it also comes with fruit like strawberry inside.
🐟 Taiyaki
A fish-shaped cake with filling inside. The most common one is sweet red bean paste, but custard and chocolate are also popular.
🍵 Yokan
A firm jelly-like sweet made from red bean paste, sugar, and agar. Smooth, rich, and easy to slice.
🥮 Manju
A soft bun with sweet filling inside. Usually filled with red bean paste and loved all across Japan.
🌸 Monaka
A crispy wafer shell filled with sweet red bean paste. Light outside, sweet inside.
🥞 Dorayaki
Two soft pancake-like cakes with sweet red bean paste in the middle. One of the easiest wagashi for beginners to love.
