Before you land in Venice, you need to know THIS. 🇮🇹
Getting from Venice Marco Polo Airport to your hotel isn’t something I’d wait until arrival to figure out.
Because the best way to get into Venice depends on one very important thing:
Where your hotel is located.
When we arrived at Marco Polo Airport, we took the ATVO airport bus to Piazzale Roma. It was raining when we landed and being in a boat in the rain wasn’t for me. I’d save the water taxi for the next day.
It worked perfectly for us because our hotel was nearby.
But that doesn’t mean it’s the best choice for everyone.
You have three main options from Venice Marco Polo Airport:
🚌 ATVO Airport Bus
Takes you to Piazzale Roma, the main transportation hub at the edge of Venice.
🚤 Alilaguna Water Bus
Makes stops throughout Venice, so one may be convenient to your hotel.
🚤 Private Water Taxi
The easiest and most memorable option, but also usually the most expensive. Depending on your hotel, it may be able to get you very close to where you’re staying.
Here’s the part I wish more first-time visitors knew:
Don’t just look at how far your hotel is from the nearest stop.
Look at the actual walking route.
Venice is full of bridges.
And bridges mean stairs.
A hotel that looks like an easy five-minute walk on a map can feel VERY different when you’re pulling a 50-pound suitcase over a bridge. 😳
Before your Venice trip, check your hotel location, the closest transportation stop AND how many bridges are between the two.
Your future self will thank you.
Which would you choose from Marco Polo Airport?
