What should you eat in Sicily in September? 🇮🇹🍇

September is a delicious time to be in Sicily. Summer flavours are still going strong, while the first tastes of autumn begin to arrive - filling local markets and Sicilian tables with some of the best seasonal produce.

Think sweet grapes during vendemmia, colourful fichi d’India, the famous Pesca di Leonforte, pistachios and aubergines turned into one of the island’s classics: Pasta alla Norma 🍆

Head to Western Sicily and there’s another local favourite to look out for: cous cous di pesce, a dish that reflects the island’s rich mix of Mediterranean cultures and traditions.

And if you want to experience Sicily through its food, there’s plenty more to discover beyond the restaurant table.

Join a local food tour, taste Sicilian w**es, learn traditional recipes in a cooking class or visit the places where some of the island’s best ingredients are made 🍷🫒

After all, getting to know Sicily also means tasting it.

📩 Send us a message and we’ll help you find the right food, w**e and culinary experiences for your Sicily itinerary.

August is almost over, but summer in Sicily definitely isn’t ☀️🇮🇹

Tomorrow we welcome September, and honestly, it’s one of our favourite times to experience the island.

The days in September are warm and sunny, the sea is around 25°C after heating up all summer, and there’s still plenty of time for beach days, swimming and boat trips 🌊 But as the peak August season comes to an end, the island slowly starts to feel a little more relaxed.

September also brings vendemmia 🍇 Grape harvest season is one of the most interesting times to discover Sicily’s w**e culture, visit local w**eries and, of course, taste some Sicilian w**es.

Here is a little reminder: if you are coming to Sicily in September, we can help you make the most of your trip - from boat tours and w**e tastings to Mount Etna experiences, private day trips, transfers and tailor-made experiences across the island.

Tell us where you’re staying and what you’d like to experience, and we’ll help with the rest 💛

If there’s one thing we always recommend adding to a Sicily trip, it’s a day out on the water 🌊

With a private boat, you can take your time, stop for a swim when you feel like it and reach some of the quieter spots along the coast that you simply can’t get to by land.

We offer private boat tours across East and West Sicily, with different routes depending on where you’re staying.
