I have to admit… Milan is one of those cities. You either love it or you hate it.
Yes, they might silently judge your trainers, and please… don’t even mention flip-flops. 😂 You’ll see someone in an Armani jacket casually riding a bicycle as if that’s completely normal. It’s stylish, fast, sophisticated and, mmm… expensive.
But Milan has so much more going on than fashion, the Duomo and how close it is to Como. There’s Sforzesco Castle, the Pinacoteca di Brera, the extraordinary Pinacoteca Ambrosiana, and the Leonardo da Vinci Museum of Science and Technology, housed partly inside a beautiful 16th-century monastery and the largest science and technology museum in Italy.
And then there’s Anselm Kiefer’s The Seven Heavenly Palaces at Pirelli HangarBicocca , seven enormous concrete towers rising inside a former industrial space. Breathtaking, strange, monumental… and very Milan.
And those are just a few.
So yes, use Milan as your gateway to Lake Como and Northern Italy. Stay for the shopping if you must. 😉
Just don’t make the mistake of thinking Milan is only the place where you landed.

I’ve experienced Stendhal Syndrome a few times, and one of them was the first time I saw Venice.

It was winter, and I was with my mum and dad. I remember looking at this impossible city floating on water, then turning around and seeing the biggest smiles on their faces. I can still see them. I can still feel that moment.

I’ve returned to Venice more times than I can count, and it still gets me.

And a little secret... Venice isn’t only Venice. It’s also the doorway to extraordinary places throughout the Veneto that many travellers never discover. ❤️🇮🇹

You’ve seen my team ❤️You’ve met the people behind the emails, the bookings, the itineraries, the systems, the problems solved quietly in the background and all those tiny details that eventually become somebody’s journey.
And when I look at them, I realise that perhaps one of the greatest things I’ve done with Selected Tours Italy is attract these extraordinary minds and hearts around me.
Women who care. Women who think. Women who challenge me. Women who bring completely different talents to the table and somehow believe, as fiercely as I do, that travel should always remain human.
I may have founded this company, but they have helped me build what it has become.
So after all these confessions, perhaps that’s the thought I want to leave you with:
A company is never really its logo, its website or even its founder. It is the people who choose to pour a little piece of themselves into it every single day.
And you’ve just met mine. ❤️🇮🇹

Today it’s time to introduce Stefania. ❤️
Stefania is another name you may not hear very often… but ohhhh, she’s the person who takes that first conversation , your wishes, your ideas, your little comments , and begins turning it all into your journey on paper.
Because Stefania is quite literally your Travel Designer.
She researches, connects the dots, finds experiences you didn’t even know existed and works out how all those pieces can come together to create your Italy.
And here’s the funny part. When you come home saying, “That guide was incredible!” or “That was our favourite experience!”, we always smile because some of that praise belongs to Stefania too. ❤️ She’s often the person who found that experience, chose it for you and quietly placed it into your journey long before you ever arrived in Italy.
And that’s perfectly okay with her.
Because Stefania knows she was there , in the idea, the choice, the experience, the timing , quietly woven into your journey. ❤️
That, my friends, is Stefania. 🇮🇹

Today it’s time to introduce Chiara. ❤️
Chiara, together with Laura and myself, makes up what I’ve always jokingly called the Three Musketeers 😂, three of us who have worked side by side for many years within the much bigger team you know today. Which probably explains why Chiara is also a little bit everywhere. 😂
If you’ve travelled with us, there’s a good chance you’ve spoken to her. And if you have, you’ll know what an incredible listener she is, and how much kindness and patience she brings to every conversation.
And then there’s her other side: our self-confessed office tech nerd. 🤓
Chiara is constantly working behind the scenes on our processes, systems and optimisations, always looking for ways to make us work smarter and create an even better experience, both for our team and for our travellers.
In fact, every month, she seems to reinvent something 😂. A new system, a better process, a completely new way of doing things. So if you travel with us more than once, you may notice that things never quite stay the same. They evolve. They improve. They become more intuitive.
That constant drive to innovate? That, my friends, is Chiara. ❤️🇮🇹 ing

YESSSS, IT’S FERRAGOSTO! 🇮🇹☀️🍹

Happy celebrations, everyone!

Now, the million-euro question…

WHEN DOES IT ACTUALLY END?! 😂

Well… technically, Ferragosto is TODAY.

Although it started last Thursday.

And today is Saturday.

And somehow we’re stretching it until Wednesday.

At this point, Ferragosto is less of a day and more of a lifestyle. 😂🇮🇹

The whole country has officially entered GO SLOW MODE.

Emails? Piano piano.
Replies? Con calma.
That thing you needed yesterday? September sounds lovely. 😂

So please… no judging. No frustration. Stop with the anxiety and the “HAS THE ENTIRE COUNTRY DISAPPEARED?!” 🤌😂

It’s CULTURE, people!

And you know perfectly well that when you come here, you LOVE it. You sit in the piazza, order an Aperol, admire how nobody appears to be in a hurry and announce:

“Ahhhh… this is why I love Italy.” 🇮🇹❤️

Wellllll…

YOU CAN’T HAVE IT BOTH WAYS! 😂😂😂

So don’t ask questions.

Embrace the chaos.
Go slow.

Today it’s time to introduce Giulia. ❤️

If Chiara, Stefania and I help design your journey, Giulia is one of the people who helps you live it.

She is our Customer Care, and by the time you arrive in Italy, there’s a very good chance you’ll already know her name and, on many occasions, her face too! 😂 She answers your questions, helps when something changes, finds solutions and makes sure that all those carefully planned pieces keep moving as they should.

But what I love most about Giulia is that, for her, customer care really does mean caring.

She celebrates when you’re happy, worries when something isn’t right and will fight behind the scenes to find a solution when something doesn’t go quite as planned. 🥊😂

Because to Giulia, you’re never just another booking.

You’re her traveller. And she wants you to be happy. ❤️

That, my friends, is Giulia. 🇮🇹

And yes, the boxing gloves are real. 🥊

Boxing takes discipline, focus, resilience and the determination to keep going, which, come to think of it, explains Giulia rather perfectly. ❤️
