Tuscia is an in-between space where Lazio and Southern Tuscany blur and everything feels a little less defined. 🌾
Located under two hours from Rome, it is close enough for a frequent escape but far enough to step entirely out of the usual rhythm 🕰️. This is a region of lived-in history rather than staged nature, where movement through the landscape is the primary goal.
This experience focuses on noticing more rather than seeing more 👀.
It is about how a plate of snails or truffle gnocchi becomes a map of the geography you are crossing, 🍝 and how the stillness of a stone village like Sovana or the wild rush of the Saturnia thermal springs can alter your perception of time. ✨
Below is a comprehensive three-day, two-night itinerary for those ready to trade arrival for movement 🗺️.
MY SLOW TUSCIA EXPERIENCE — 3 DAY / 2 NIGHT ITINERARY
DAY 1 — ARRIVAL AND CONTINUITY
Arrival in the late afternoon at Borgo Rinascimento Farnese. This restored family property serves as a base that feels less like accommodation and more like a lived-in history 🏡.
https://www.borgorinascimento.it/en
Slow wander around the property to hang with the animals moving through the land, including the dogs, goats, chickens, donkeys, and cats 🐈.
Dinner: Locanda La Voltarella 🍷

DAY 2 — VILLAGES, WATERFALLS, AND THERMAL WATERS
Slow morning at the property to enjoy the quietude of the heart of Tuscia ☕.
Farnese village visit: lunch in the main piazza bar followed by a long and leisurely meander through the village and a visit to the church. ⛪
Visit to Borgo di Pinocchio, located just outside the historic center.
Visit to Cascata del Salabrone: a short trek on a dirt path to a raw, uncurated waterfall. 💦
Sovana village walk: a pristine village that feels like a film set, featuring artisanal shops, ice cream, and two remarkable churches. 🍨
Late afternoon stop at Cascate del Molino / Saturnia: these free natural thermal river baths remain accessible and uncontained. Stay for an aperitivo looking at the falls until the light changes. 🍷
Dinner: Trattoria Ristorante Enoteca La Cascia 🍽️

DAY 3 — THE LAKE BOLSENA LOOP
Travel to Marta for an e-bike rental with Bike Tour Bolsena Lake 🚲.
https://biketourbolsenalake.com/en/
Full lake loop: a continuous ride circling Lake Bolsena, following the edge of the landscape and stopping naturally at small lakeside settlements and food kiosks.
Return to Marta for ice cream by the lake as a final punctuation mark to the journey.
Return to Rome 🚗
Designing these kinds of movements through the Italian landscape is what I do. If you find yourself wanting to step into this rhythm but need a guide to help you slow down and see the parts of Italy that don't perform for visitors, I am here to design that experience for you. ✨

What corners of Italy do you keep returning to? I would love to hear about the slow trips that have stayed with you 🇮🇹
