Water costs €11.13 a litre at Oktoberfest. B**r costs €14.80. Read that again.

The 191st Wiesn ends October 4, so there are 11 days left. Walking in is completely free — grounds and tents both. Everything after the gate is where people get caught out.

What to know before you go:

🍺 A Maß runs €14.80–15.90 depending on the tent
🎟️ Only the Oide Wiesn charges admission: €4, free after 9pm
🎒 Bags max 3 litres, 20×15×10cm — bigger gets refused at the gate
🚇 No parking anywhere. U-Bahn or S-Bahn to Theresienwiese
⛺ Tents shut their doors when they're full. Weekends fill first

Six Munich breweries and nobody else may pour here: Augustiner, Hacker-Pschorr, Hofbräu, Löwenbräu, Paulaner, Spaten.

Three hours in a city is not a small day. It's a different plan entirely.

The problem isn't the time...it's that every city guide is written for a full day.

So with three hours you default to the nearest famous sight, queue forty minutes, spend thirty inside, and that's the afternoon gone.

Here's what three hours actually buys:

🚶 3.5 km of route — a stopping-and-looking pace, not a commute
📍 7 stops, roughly nine minutes standing at each one
🎧 60 min of narration spread across the walk
☕ 45 min of slack for coffee, a queue, getting lost

Add twenty minutes for hills. Lisbon will collect them.

You're losing 40 minutes of evening light this month. Most people won't notice until their dinner plans stop working.

Rome sets at 19:33 tonight. On September 30 it's 18:53. Berlin drops a full 55 minutes. Right now Europe is shedding 2–4 minutes of daylight every single day — the fastest the light moves all year, peaking at the equinox on the 23rd.

Which changes how you should plan the evening:

🌅 Golden hour starts about 55 minutes before sunset. In Rome tonight, 18:57. Be somewhere with a view by then — not walking toward one.
🔵 Blue hour is the 20 minutes after. Facades light up, the sky goes cobalt. Squares and bridges.
🚶 So start a two-hour walk at 17:00. End in the light instead of chasing it. Book dinner for 20:15.

The Mediterranean is warmer right now than it was in July.

Why?The sea absorbs heat all summer and gives it back in autumn, so it peaks about six weeks behind the air.

Aegean at 24°C. Adriatic at 23°C.

Meanwhile the land has dropped 5–12°C and cities like Rome are finally walkable at midday.
