Italian Cats: Fearless Guardians of the Streets!

You all know we have three brave dogs—Izzy, Sean, and Chucha. Scared of nothing! And you know we live in Puglia.

But can someone explain to me how Italian cats have such huge cojones (even the females)? Not only do they stand their ground when we’re out, but if our fearless trio dares to engage in some cheerful banter (barking en masse), these cats don’t just ignore them—they follow us down the road until we’re off their territory!

Seriously, what do they feed these Italians??

Same Walk, Always Changing

Pretty much every morning, I walk the dogs behind Lidl—same place, same time. But the land is never really the same. The farmers are out planting spuds, the grass is pushing higher, and now the almond blossoms have arrived, a sure sign that spring in Salento isn’t far off.

Even the most familiar walks have something new to show. 🇺🇦

Ciao, Thought I’d show you my stove—since you know Donna Olesia does beauty, and I crash my way through renovations!
Back in September, I suggested putting a little stove in the corner where we’re planning to add some windows in the kitchen area. Got the go-ahead, searched Marketplace… and, of course, found something twice the size I had in mind. Donna O said it was fine, so I bought it and had it delivered (that’s a whole other story).
Now “we” have decided it’s too big for the original spot. No worries—easy fix! Just take out a door, build a wall, sort out a flue, and we’re good to go!
It’s a multi-fuel stove, though we mostly burn olive wood. I’ve also been experimenting with the attached oven, and let’s just say—we’re eating well and keeping warm!
It’s so nice, it’s almost a shame winter only lasts three months. ))

Hi Everybody!

We haven’t been doing many deliveries over the past year or so, as we decided to spend more time together. The war in Ukraine 🇺🇦 continues to impact us daily, but please don’t think we’ve been idle! We now have three rescue dogs, and today it seems a local cat has moved into our shed to have her kittens—you can only imagine the consternation this is causing.

I’ve been working in kitchens here in Puglia, learning about local food and preparation techniques. I’m also helping at an English language school as a “native speaker,” spreading that Kiwi twang a little further! 😂

Donna Olesia has been busy too, spreading frescos and mosaics throughout our home, as well as painting and renovating furniture.

That’s our update for now—I’m determined to post more often this year, so watch this space!

Hey ragazze e ragazzi! We are not only the delivery service but also proud owners of tiny but comfortable and beautiful B&B facility. We believe that it is the best deal in the town. We have put the smallest price for it because we are not greedy at first stage but also because we have our 3 beautiful, friendly and very welcoming risqué dogs. You will not have any contact with them but for sure when you come in and out you will hear them welcoming you . For us those are beautifulest sounds but we realize that not for everyone;) I hope you remember that we are based in Puglia in Parabita in the most comfortable location for vacations ever. To reach any of iconic beaches and towns of Salento you need only 15 min drive if you are not Italian and around 10 - if you are. Through this summer season we want to raise money for a lovely little Vespa which will be available for our guests in next season. Case is that hundreds of Vespas with young and mature couples are riding here in Salento from towns like ours to the beaches of Gallipoli, Santa Caterina del Bagno and others. So we want our clients to have this possibility too without even looking for scooters to rent. But piano piano, as Italians say. So!
