😳 Dreaming of a summer trip to Capri? This is the reality in peak season…

This photo wasn’t taken at a theme park, it was the line just to board the ferry from the beautiful island of Capri.

Every summer, millions of visitors flock to Italy, and iconic destinations like Capri can become incredibly crowded. That means:
🚢 Long waits for ferries.
🍝 Restaurants with hour-long lines.
📸 Packed viewpoints where it’s hard to enjoy the scenery.
🏖️ Beaches that are fully booked days in advance.
🌡️ Hot temperatures that make standing in line even more exhausting.

Don’t get me wrong, Capri is absolutely stunning and worth visiting. But timing can make all the difference.

If your schedule is flexible, consider visiting in May, early June, September, or October. You’ll still enjoy beautiful weather, warm seas, and that unmistakable Italian charm, without spending a big part of your vacation waiting in line.

Sometimes the best travel tip isn’t where to go… it’s when to go.

Have you visited Italy during the height of summer? Did the crowds affect your experience, or was it still worth it? Share your thoughts below! 🇮🇹👇

🇮🇹 First time going to an Italian beach? Here’s one word you need to know: Lido.

If you’re picturing miles of free public beach, Italy may surprise you.

A lido is a private beach club where you can rent sun loungers and umbrellas for the day. Most also have changing rooms, showers, toilets, cafés or restaurants, and sometimes even playgrounds, beach volleyball, or paddleboard rentals.

Here’s why so many Italians love them:
☀️ No carrying beach gear.
🏖️ Reserved spot all day.
🚿 Clean facilities.
🍹 Food, drinks, and espresso just steps away.

Wondering if you have to pay to visit a beach? Nope!

Almost every Italian coastline has spiaggia libera (free public beach) alongside the lidos. You can simply bring your own towel and umbrella if you prefer.

💡 Travel tip: Visiting in July or August? Book your lido in advance. The best spots—especially on the Amalfi Coast, Sardinia, Puglia, and the Italian Riviera—often sell out days or even weeks ahead.

Knowing the difference between a lido and a spiaggia libera can save you confusion and help you enjoy your beach day like a local.
