Bratislava doesn’t have many cafés and restaurants with beautiful green courtyards, but Downtown Garden is definitely one of those hidden gems. 🌿✨

A lovely spot to enjoy delicious food, sip on coffee ☕, or treat yourself to dessert 🍰, all while soaking up the cozy atmosphere of a charming garden courtyard.

🌿 THIS LOOKS LIKE A JUNGLE… BUT IT’S SLOVAKIA!

📍 HALUZICKÁ TIESŇAVA — a magical hidden gorge near Trenčín, Slovakia!
A little piece of jungle in the heart of Europe, surrounded by lush greenery, dramatic slopes and a beautiful medieval church ruin.
🏰 2 amazing facts about this place:
🌱 The gorge is about 1 km long and up to 50 m deep! Carved by a small stream, it continues to change its shape through erosion.
⛪ The erosion was so powerful that it even destroyed part of the fortifications of a 13th-century Romanesque church nearby!

MY VISITING TIPS:
🅿️ Parking: Right near the entrance in Haluzice — €3 per day.
🥾 My recommended route:
1. Start at the top and visit the beautiful medieval church ruins first.
2. Then follow the trail down into the gorge.
3. Walk through the jungle-like canyon until you reach the little waterfall.
4. From there, take the path uphill to exit the gorge.

This way, you can enjoy both the church and the canyon in one lovely walk!

🏰 Lešná Chateau — one of the most beautiful hidden gems in the Czech Republic!
Located near Zlín, this fairytale château is actually inside a zoo! But here’s the interesting part: the château came first!

Built in 1893 for the aristocratic Seilern family, it was surrounded by a magnificent park. Zlín Zoo opened here much later, in 1948.

And this place doesn’t feel like a typical zoo at all! With its beautiful gardens, ancient trees, and stunning architecture, it feels more like a huge royal park. 🌿

The château is just as impressive inside, with beautifully preserved historic rooms. Surprisingly, it already had electricity and central heating in the 19th century!

Things to know before visiting:

🎟️ Château entrance: around 75 CZK (€3)
🎟️ Zoo entrance: around 260 CZK (€11)

Total: approximately €14 per adult.
Even if you only want to visit the château, you still have to pay the zoo entrance fee.
Important: The château interiors can only be visited on guided tours at scheduled times.
A wonderful combination of history, architecture, nature, and wildlife. Definitely a place worth discovering in the Czech Republic!

💎 Hidden in Eastern Slovakia, Beňatinský lom is one of those places that looks almost unreal. Turquoise water, dramatic quarry walls and one of the most beautiful hidden-gem views in the region.
Local legend says that a mysterious “whale” is hidden in the quarry walls — a rock formation resembling a giant sea creature. Its true origin is still a mystery.
‼️There’s also a 180 m zipline over the quarry for around €10 per ride. Opening may depend on the weather, so check before you go.

🍂 SAVE THIS EASY AUTUMN ESCAPE JUST 20 MIN FROM BRATISLAVA!

If you’re looking for an easy hike with a little French charm, beautiful forest trails and a touch of history, save this route in Marianka.
📍 PARKING
Park at the upper parking area in Marianka near the pilgrimage complex. Search for “Parkovisko Marianka” / parking near Pútnické miesto Marianka.
🥾 1. WALK TO LESNÉ BISTRO VÁŽKA
From the pilgrimage area, head towards Svätá studňa and take Partizánska street uphill. Continue past the last houses and follow the road into the forest.
Cross the small stream using the bridge and continue uphill in the direction of Malý Slavín. After around 300 m, you’ll find Lesné bistro Vážka on your right. It’s only around a 15-minute walk from the pilgrimage site.
🇫🇷 2. STOP AT VÁŽKA
This little forest bistro feels like a tiny piece of Provence hidden in the Little Carpathians.
Think vintage French furniture, beautiful old porcelain, coffee, food and a surprisingly charming atmosphere in the middle of the forest.
💡 TIP: Come early on weekends — it can get busy around lunchtime.
🌲 3. CONTINUE YOUR MINI HIKE
After the bistro, simply continue along the forest trails towards:
VÁŽKA → MALÝ SLAVÍN
You don’t need to do the full hiking route. Walk as far as you feel like, enjoy the forest and then turn back towards Marianka. There are plenty of trails here, so you can make this trip as short or as long as you want.
⛪ 4. FINISH AT MARIANSKE ÚDOLIE
Back in Marianka, don’t leave yet! Walk through Marianske údolie and discover:
💧 Svätá studňa
✝️ Kalvária
⛪ chapels along the pilgrimage route
⛏️ Bridlicová štôlňa
🏛️ the former Pauline monastery
⛪ Basilica of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary

Definitely step inside the basilica if it’s open.
Marianka is considered the oldest pilgrimage site in Slovakia, with its documented pilgrimage history going back to the 14th century.

👉Did you know that in Zlín, Czech Republic — around 2 hours from Bratislava and 1 hour from Trenčín — you can visit one of the most unusual offices in Europe?
Inside the famous Baťa Building No. 21 is a real office built inside an elevator for Jan Antonín Baťa. The office had everything needed for work and could move between floors while he stayed at his desk.
The building has 16 floors and was once the tallest building in Czechoslovakia.

✨ KREMNICA — one of Slovakia’s most fascinating historic towns.

Once one of the richest mining towns in Europe, Kremnica became famous for its gold and silver and was granted royal town privileges in 1328. 🪙

For centuries, coins minted here travelled far beyond Slovakia — and the town’s mint is still operating today.

Small town. Almost 700 years of minting history. A lot more interesting than you might expect. ✨
