I'm back in one of my favourite places.

Not only did I work around the area for a number of years, we've also chosen to return independently many times.

There’s something for everyone here. Popular for cycling, hiking, watersports, and even paragliding from the top of Monte Baldo!

If you prefer a slower pace, there are beautiful and distinct towns to explore, each with their own weekly Italian markets, lakeside cruises, boat hire, wine tasting at surrounding vineyards, waterside eateries, and even lakeside spas.

At 25 times the size of Windermere and stretching across three regions, you'll never run out of places to see.

I promise you, once is never enough!

Here are a few snaps from the south yesterday. Plenty more to come throughout the week!

I've now arrived back in Italy after attending an excellent supplier and training day in Glasgow. It was so great to meet up with the wonderful team at Merlin Travel Group HQ.

Paul's been holding the fort while making the most of the peace and quiet 😅

Keep an eye out, as over the next week I'll be sharing a selection of places around the beautiful Lake Garda.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗩𝗲𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗮 🏛

Another trip down memory lane to return to a firm favourite of mine. Our regular tour of Lake Garda would end with an excursion to Verona on a Friday.

After collecting a local guide, we'd tour around the city walls, through exclusive and grand residences to a spectacular viewpoint to soak up the views over the city and Adige River. We'd then enjoy a walking tour, taking in Romeo and Juliet's🌹 balcony, the Duomo and ending at the spectacular Arena where they still hold Opera's on summer evenings🏟

One of my favourite cities, Verona is simply stunning! Full of amazing historical buildings and architecture, very green and compact enough to get around on foot. There's a picture postcard scene at every turn.

I'll still be returning, at least once more for my bucket list wish to attend the Verona Opera.
What a beautiful last day before a short visit home!

You may not recognise the region's name, but you'll definitely be familiar with some places within it, such as Parma, Bologna and Modena

The Po valley or "food valley" stretches from the Apenine mountain range in the West, right accross to Rimini on the Adriatic coast.

A foodies heaven, in amongst stunning architecture and surrounded by beautiful lush green countryside.

Parma ham, Mortadella, Bolognese, Parmesan cheese, Tortelini pasta, Piadina flat bread, Balsamic vinegar .... and all that before you start on the delicious wines and traditional red Lambrusco 🍷

I've just found out that Princesses Catherine is coming here next week, in fact she's flying the same day as me on my return from a visit home..... maybe she's been following our trip and wants in on the action 🤔 if she's on my Ryan air flight I can give her a few pointers 🤪

San Gimignano, Tuscany
Sitting on a hilltop within the Chianti wine region, San Gimignano is a firm favourite on any tour of Tuscany.

We've taken many tour groups here in the past, yet it has remained a special place for us, to return to and enjoy at our leisure.

The towers that dominate the San Gimignano, were 12th-century status symbols. Wealthy families built over 72 towers to show off power and rivalry. While only 14 remain today, they still dominate the skyline of this UNESCO World Heritage site.

With a bustling market on Thursday mornings, the afternoon gives a very different feel. It's definitely worth going beyond the main street and squares, to find beautiful gardens and viewing points.
