🔥 Mt. Vesuvius Update for Travelers 🔥

If you're planning to visit Mt. Vesuvius National Park, please be aware that the area is currently closed due to a very large, active wildfire which began a few days ago. All hiking trails in the Vesuvius National Park are closed to ensure safety and facilitate firefighting efforts.

The fire has caused significant damage to local agriculture, including vineyards and crops like apricots and tomatoes, which are located on the slopes of Mount Vesuvius. This is particularly devastating as it coincides with the grape harvest season.

The fire has produced a thick column of smoke visible from nearby cities like Naples and Pompeii. The smoke and ash have significantly deteriorated air quality in the region, posing health risks to residents and visitors. Local authorities have set up 24-hour medical stations in affected areas to assist those experiencing respiratory issues.

We know this might disrupt your travel plans, and we understand how disappointing that can be. If you have an upcoming trip to the Vesuvius/Naples area, consider exploring other incredible sites like Caserta, Pompeii, Sorrento, the Amalfi Coast, or the beautiful streets of Naples itself until the situation is resolved and the area is reopened.
