Make no mistake: even as a professional travel planner, this Africa trip required a ton of work!
When I realized this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see the Great Migration with NO CROWDS I gathered soms friends and put together a last min trip. LOVING IT SO FAR!
My husband and I were the only passengers in the closed business class cabin. I LOVE Qatar always but it was divine to have (basically) a private international flight!
If you’re traveling internationally this year, it’s ESSENTIAL to use a travel advisor. Americans can travel to about 30 countries worldwide right now, but I don’t recommend doing it in your own as critical travel updates are often not shared widely with the general public. I’ve seen so many people arrive to the airport, to be unable to board.
Current protocol:
👉Everyone on the plane had to show proof of negative covid PCR covid test taken within 48 hours. (A bit stressful with lab return times in the US but great for peace of mind).
👉Facemasks required except while eating or drinking (I sat down my tea cup just for this pic).
👉Qatar provides faceshields at boarding, required in flight IN ADDITION to masks.
👉Flight attendants wear PPE
👉Economy was about 1/3 full and masks/shields very strictly enforced in economy.
👉Health declarations and advance admission required for most countries
👉Obviously, all the usual protocols: minimal touch, sanitizer provided, extra cleaning, hospital grade air filters on-board, etc
👉Travel has a bit of a clinical feel. It’s definitely not as glamorous as before, but It’s cleaner than ever, and personally I’m still in love with it!
