Autumn in Italy is glorious. It’s a time of changing colors, olive harvests and truffle hunts. Summer’s heat is a memory and cool nights by the fire with a nightcap of vin santo are the perfect endings to days spent discovering the delicious treasures Italy has to offer. Please join us in the classic Italian village of Torre Alfina, perfectly situated where the regions of Tuscany, Umbria and Lazio meet.
We’ll stay at the Villa di Torre Alfina, an elegant four-bedroom villa set beneath the Castello di Torre Alfina. Our schedule is being finalized but will include making sausage and salumi with a master butcher, making ricotta and cooking with a Contessa, truffle hunting, and pasta-making with local cooks. We will participate in the yearly olive harvest and visit an olive oil press for a tour and tasting. We will tour wineries and hike in the mountains, ending at a thermal spring as our reward. There will be many fine meals in local trattorie and we will eat very, very well.
The inaugural 2018 Italy al Gusto food and wine vacations will take place over two weeks. You can join us for the week of November 3-10 or the week of November 10-17. Or splash out and join us for both weeks. The price is US$2900 per week per person (there will be a surcharge for a single, to be determined). This price includes transfers to and from the airport in Rome, accommodation at the villa, all meals (including vino della casa), all activities and all classes. Not included are airfare to Italy, travel insurance, and personal expenditures such as souvenirs.
Please email me at [email protected] for information and reservations. And please check out the villa’s website at https://www.villatorrealfina.com/.
