Varanasi just made history, Uttar Pradesh, India 🇮🇳
India has launched its first indigenous hydrogen-powered water taxi — a major step toward clean, green transport on the Ganga.
🏙️ Launched at Namo Ghat, Varanasi, the 24-meter catamaran uses hydrogen fuel cell technology that emits only water and heat — meaning zero pollution and zero smoke.
👥 It can carry up to 50 passengers in an air-conditioned cabin and run for about 8 hours on a single hydrogen refill.
Built with fully indigenous tech by Cochin Shipyard Limited and certified by Indian Register of Shipping, this marks a new era in sustainable inland water transport.
The service is expected to boost eco-tourism, reduce congestion on roads, and support India’s net-zero goals.
🌍 A proud moment for Varanasi and for India’s clean mobility future! 🇮🇳
