First Indian airline to restart flying to Gulf region -.

Air India Express will resume flight operations to and from Muscat starting tomorrow, March 3, with scheduled services to Delhi, Kochi, Kozhikode, Mangaluru, Mumbai and Tiruchirappally.

The first Air India Express flight from Muscat will operate to Tiruchirappalli, departing at 10:25 hours local time.

Trichy airport to get 7 more international services from March. That include:

Frequency increase by Air India Express :

• Trichy–Sharjah: 7 to 10 weekly flights from March 29
• Trichy–Muscat: 2 to 3 weekly flights

AbuDhabi service by IndiGo :

• Trichy–Abu Dhabi service: 3 weekly flights (from early April)

This apart, Tiruchirappalli MP & Tiruchirappalli International Airport Advisory Committee Chairman has requested Indigo :

• To increase Trichy–Mumbai frequency from 3 weekly to daily

• To add new additional Trichy–Hyderabad service

Transit & Connectivity:

• MP also requested Indigo to use international-to-international transit at Tiruchirappalli International Airport to enable Trichy–Jaffna passengers to connect onward to Singapore via Trichy–Singapore flight

Additional International flights are on the card from the Summer schedule!!!

Trichy International Airport (TRZ) is set to get a major boost in connectivity to the Gulf countries starting late March / early April 2026:

to (SHJ): From 7 weekly to 10 weekly, starting March 29, 2026.

to (MCT): From 2 weekly to 3 weekly.

Airlines will introduce 3 weekly services to Abu Dhabi (AUH), expected to start in the first week of April 2026.

Touching the magic figure of 2 lakh+ passenger movements at Tiruchirappalli International Airport again — after May 2025!

January, as always, proved to be the peak travel month and pushed Trichy Airport (TRZ) past the 2 lakh passenger milestone once more! While domestic traffic is leading the strong improvement (great news overall!), it's also impacting Middle East (ME) routes via hubs like Hyderabad (HYD) and Mumbai (BOM). Still, there's huge potential — we could easily add daily BOM flights and extra ATR services to Bengaluru (BLR), Chennai (MAA), and Hyderabad (HYD) to boost connectivity even further.Plus, the airport recorded 40 non-scheduled movements carrying 153 passengers — the highest since AAI's Twitter stats began tracking! This means more revenue for the airport and shows growing charter/private flight activity.
