A divine journey from Tirupati to Tirumala.
The holy city of Tirupati is located at the foothills of the Seshachala mountain range in Andhra Pradesh. From here, the pilgrimage to see Lord Venkateswara begins.
Traditionally, devotees first pay homage to the elder brother of Lord Venkateswara, Sri Govindarajaswamy Temple. Then, they pay homage to Padmavati Amma in Tiruchanur, the incarnation of Goddess Lakshmi and the wife of Lord Venkateswara.
After paying homage to Padmavati, one ascends to Tirumala and pays homage to Lord Venkateswara Swamy while enjoying the views of the eastern Ghats and chanting names like Srinivasa and Govinda.
The divine shrines of Tirupati and Tirumala have attained their present glory through the dedication of various dynasties over the centuries.
Starting from the ancient rulers like the Pallavas and Cholas, and up to the golden age of the Vijayanagara Empire, royal patronage and a series of donations made these temples the spiritual crown jewels of India.
The Tirumala Mahahundi, where devotees accept offerings to pay off the debt that Srinivasan had taken from Kubera for his marriage to Padmavati, reveals the intensity of Venkateswara devotion and faith.
The head-shaving ritual, which is meant to reduce ego, and the divine prasad, Tirupati Laddu, make this journey special.
First, prayers in the presence of Govindaraja,
then the blessings of Padmavati Amma, and finally, the darshan of Venkateswara.
This is the divine darshan path from Tirupati to Tirumala.
This divine journey, where every step becomes a penance and every vision becomes a blessing, is the devotion of devotees to God.
