As part of the ongoing public outreach initiative of the J&K Government, Srinagar Police today organized Lok Darbar cm Awareness Programme on New Criminal Laws (Thana Diwas) across various Police Stations and Police Posts in the district.

During the 1st phase for the month of June 2026, the programme was conducted in 05 Police Stations and 01 Police Post, including: PS Bemina/Rainawari/Womens/Ahmadnagar/Harwan and PP Khonmoh.

The meetings were chaired by supervisory officers and jurisdictional police officers, witnessing active participation from civil society members, including representatives of Auqaf Committees, Traders Federation, transporters, Panchayati Raj members, religious preachers, and Mohalla elders.

During the interaction, participants raised several issues of public importance and highlighted grievances pertaining to illegal narcotics trafficking, traffic management, sand mafia activities, and challenges related to floating population. Issues falling within the domain of civil administration such as road maintenance, sanitation, healthcare, and electricity were also recorded for further redressal through appropriate channels.

*Special emphasis was laid on the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan*, wherein participants were sensitized about the harmful effects of drug abuse, legal consequences under the new criminal laws, and the importance of collective community action in eradicating the drug menace. Citizens were encouraged to share information regarding drug peddling and substance abuse, ensuring strict confidentiality and prompt action by the police.

Srinagar Police reiterated its commitment to utilizing Lok Darbar (Thana Diwas) as an effective platform to directly engage with the public, ensuring that every citizen’s voice is heard and grievances are addressed in a timely and transparent manner. The initiative also aims to strengthen trust, accountability, and cooperation between police and the community.

Participants were urged to actively support police efforts in curbing drug abuse, maintaining vigilance against anti-national and anti-social elements, and promoting peace and harmony in society. Community members, in turn, assured full cooperation in fostering a safer and drug-free Srinagar.

By organizing such programmes, Srinagar Police reaffirms its dedication towards transparent policing, grassroots-level engagement, and building a strong police-public partnership for effective grievance redressal and overall societal well-being.

Continuing its sustained crackdown against drug trafficking under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan , Srinagar Police has attached immovable properties worth approximately ₹𝟰 𝗖𝗿𝗼𝗿𝗲 belonging to two drug peddlers under the provisions of the NDPS Act, 1985.

Police Station Sangam* attached properties worth approximately ₹3 crore belonging to Gulam Ahmad Dar S/o Ghulam Mohammad Dar, in connection with FIR No. 14/2026 under Section 8/20 NDPS Act. The attached assets include a residential house, land and commercial shops. Investigation established that the properties were acquired through proceeds of narcotics trafficking.

In a separate action, Police Station Nowhatta attached a residential property worth approximately ₹1 crore belonging to Mohd Shafi Sheikh S/o Late Mohd Subhan Sheikh, in connection with FIR No. 09/2018 under Sections 8/20 NDPS Act. The property was identified as an illegally acquired asset generated through drug trafficking.

The attachments were carried out under the relevant provisions of the NDPS Act to prevent concealment, transfer or disposal of properties derived from illicit narcotics trade.

Srinagar Police remains committed to dismantling narcotics networks by targeting both drug traffickers and the assets generated through criminal activities. Such action shall continue under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan.

Continuing its sustained crackdown against drug trafficking and acting firmly against assets acquired through the proceeds of narcotics trade under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, Srinagar Police has attached immovable properties worth approximately ₹3.5 crore belonging to two notorious drug peddlers under the provisions of the NDPS Act, 1985.

In the first action, Police Station Nigeen attached an immovable property worth approximately ₹1.30 crore under Section 68(F)(1) of the NDPS Act in connection with FIR No. 30/2021 U/S 8/21 NDPS Act. The attached property comprises a double-storeyed residential house along with land situated at Habbak Crossing, Hazratbal, belonging to Rahil Manzoor Malla S/o Manzoor Ahmad Malla R/o Habbak Crossing, Hazratbal.

In a separate action, Police Station Soura attached a residential house worth approximately ₹2.20 crore under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act belonging to Adil Rashid Gudoo S/o Abdul Rashid Gudoo R/o Keel Khan Gali (Haider Colony), Upper Soura, who is involved in illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs.

During the course of investigation, both properties were identified as illegally acquired assets derived from proceeds generated through drug trafficking activities.

Accordingly, the properties have been formally attached/frozen under the provisions of the NDPS Act. The attachment orders prohibit the owners from selling, transferring, leasing, alienating, altering, disposing of, or creating any third-party interest in the said properties pending further legal proceedings.

These actions reflect Srinagar Police's unwavering commitment to dismantling the narcotics ecosystem by targeting both drug traffickers and the illegally acquired assets generated through the drug trade. Such stringent measures form an integral part of the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, aimed at safeguarding society, particularly the youth, from the menace of drugs and realizing the vision of a Drug-Free Kashmir.

Srinagar, June 05, 2026:

On the occasion of 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗘𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗗𝗮𝘆, Jammu & Kashmir Police organized a Tree Plantation Drive at District Police Lines (DPL), Srinagar, reaffirming its commitment towards Environmental conservation and sustainable development.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗱𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲 was led by Director General of Police, J&K, Shri Nalin Prabhat, IPS , who planted a sapling and highlighted the importance of collective efforts in protecting and preserving the environment. Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone, Shri V.K. Birdi, IPS, and Deputy Inspector General of Police, Central Kashmir Range, Shri Rajiv Pandey, IPS, also participated in the programme and planted saplings.

Senior Superintendent of Police, Srinagar, Dr. G.V. Sundeep Chakravarthy, IPS, along with Zonal SPs and other Police officers, attended the event.

Speaking on the occasion, the DG-P emphasized that environmental protection is a shared responsibility and called upon all stakeholders to contribute towards creating a greener, cleaner and healthier future. He underscored the need for sustained efforts to preserve ecological balance and promote environmental awareness.

The Plantation drive forms part of J&K Police’s broader commitment towards supporting environmental conservation initiatives and fostering sustainable practices. Participants pledged to ensure the proper care and maintenance of the planted saplings and to actively promote environmental stewardship within the community.

Jammu & Kashmir Police remains dedicated to serving society not only through effective law enforcement but also through initiatives aimed at public welfare, environmental protection and sustainable development.

Srinagar, June 05, 2026:

Marking World Environment Day , Srinagar Police organized a district-wide Tree Plantation Drive across all Police establishments in the district as part of its commitment towards environmental conservation and sustainable development.

The drive was carried out under the supervision of SSP Srinagar, Dr. G.V. Sundeep Chakravarthy, IPS, at District Police Lines Srinagar. SP Headquarters, DySP Headquarters, DySP DAR, along with other officers and officials, actively participated in the programme. Similar Plantation drives were conducted across all Police Stations and Police Posts under the supervision of concerned Zonal SPs, SDPOs, SHOs and ICPPs.

During the campaign, a large number of saplings were planted within Police premises and at identified locations across the district with the objective of enhancing green cover, promoting environmental sustainability and raising awareness about the importance of protecting natural resources.

Speaking on the occasion, SSP Srinagar emphasized the importance of collective efforts towards environmental protection and highlighted that such initiatives contribute to building a cleaner, healthier and greener future for coming generations.

The participating officers and personnel pledged to ensure proper care and maintenance of the planted saplings to maximize their survival and long-term environmental benefits.

Srinagar, June 05, 2026:

Continuing its sustained crackdown against narcotics trafficking under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan, Srinagar Police has attached immovable and movable properties worth over ₹4 crore belonging to individuals involved in drug trafficking, in separate actions carried out by Police Stations Lal Bazar and Khanayar under the provisions of the NDPS Act.

In a significant action by Police Station Lal Bazar, a double-storey residential house constructed on 09 marlas of land belonging to Aadil Ahmad Dhobi S/o Sunawallah Dhobi R/o Sikh Bagh, Lal Bazar was attached under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act in connection with FIR No. 05/2026 U/S 8/22, 29 NDPS Act. A Swift Dzire vehicle (JK01U-0980) linked to the accused was also attached during the proceedings.

In another case registered at Police Station Lal Bazar, a Santro vehicle bearing Registration No. DL4CAP-6047 belonging to
Arshid Ahmad Sheikh S/o Wali Mohammad Sheikh R/o Haka Bazar was attached under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act in connection with FIR No. 50/2025 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act.

In a separate action, Police Station Khanayar attached a double-storey residential house along with 12 marlas of land, valued at approximately ₹2 crore , belonging to Owais Hussain Mir S/o Sajad Hussain Mir R/o Tangbagh, Khanayar . The accused is involved in FIR No. 12/2024 U/S 8/20, 29 NDPS Act registered at Police Station Khanayar. During investigation, the property was identified as an illegally acquired asset generated through proceeds of drug trafficking and was subsequently attached after completion of all requisite legal formalities under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act.

The cumulative value of the attached properties and vehicles exceeds ₹4 crore , marking another significant step towards dismantling the financial infrastructure of narcotics networks operating in the district.

Srinagar Police remains committed to targeting the economic foundations of drug trafficking by identifying and attaching assets acquired through illicit means. Such actions are aimed at ensuring that crime does not pay and that individuals involved in narcotics trafficking are deprived of the proceeds generated from illegal activities.

Srinagar, June 04, 2026:

Continuing its sustained and uncompromising crackdown against drug trafficking and narcotics-related crimes under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan , Srinagar Police, in coordination with the Revenue Department, demolished an illegally constructed three-storeyed residential structure worth approximately ₹𝟮 𝗖𝗿𝗼𝗿𝗲 belonging to a notorious drug peddler, namely Sheikh Tasaduq S/o Gh. Mohammad Sheikh R/o Mumkhan Mohalla, Rainawari, Srinagar.

The accused is involved in multiple NDPS cases, including FIR No. 112/2019 under Sections 8/20, 18, 21, 29 NDPS Act registered at Police Station Awantipora and FIR No. 81/2023 under Sections 8/21, 29 NDPS Act registered at Police Station Budgam. Additionally, his spouse, Sheikh Maroofa, is also involved in FIR No. 217/2025 under Section 8/22 NDPS Act registered at Police Station Pulwama.

During a comprehensive inquiry and verification of the assets owned and possessed by the accused, it was established that the three-storeyed concrete structure had been raised over encroached State land and was allegedly constructed from proceeds generated through illicit narcotics trafficking. The action has also resulted in the recovery of valuable Government land worth crores from illegal occupation.

Further investigation revealed that the property constituted illegally acquired assets and represented the financial gains derived from unlawful narcotics activities, apart from being an unauthorized encroachment on State land.

Upon completion of all requisite legal formalities and in accordance with due process of law, the structure was demolished in the presence of the concerned Revenue authorities.

This action reflects the firm resolve of Srinagar Police to dismantle the financial infrastructure supporting drug trafficking networks and ensure that proceeds of crime are neither protected nor allowed to be converted into unlawful assets. Srinagar Police remains steadfast in its commitment to eradicate the menace of drugs from society and appeals to the public to continue supporting law enforcement agencies in building a drug-free Jammu & Kashmir.

Srinagar, May 31, 2026:

Srinagar Police organized a farewell ceremony at the District Police Headquarters, Srinagar, to honour five Retiring officers for their dedicated service to the Jammu and Kashmir Police.

The officers who superannuated include:
Sr. PO Mohd Shafi Baba, SI Gulzar Ahmad Shah, SI Shagoof Ahmad Khan, SI Abdul Hamid Sheikh and HC Ali Mohd Bhat. All the officers have rendered long years of sincere, dedicated, and commendable service to the department.

Senior Superintendent of Police Srinagar, Dr. G.V. Sundeep Chakravarthy, IPS, lauded the retirees for their unwavering commitment, professionalism, and integrity throughout their careers. He expressed deep appreciation for their valuable contributions and extended his best wishes for a healthy, peaceful, and fulfilling post-retirement life.

The function was also attended by SP Headquarters Shri Umar Shah, DySP Headquarters Ms. Syed Sleet Shah, DySP DAR Nazir Ahmad, and other officers, who joined in expressing their gratitude and admiration for the retiring personnel.

As a token of recognition, SSP Srinagar presented Certificates of Appreciation to the retirees, acknowledging their dedicated service and significant role in maintaining law and order over the years.

Continuing its sustained and intensified crackdown against drug trafficking and narcotics networks under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, Srinagar Police has attached multiple immovable properties worth approximately ₹𝟮 𝗖𝗥𝗢𝗥𝗘𝗦 belonging to individuals involved in narcotics-related activities.

In the first case, Police Station Bemina attached immovable property worth approximately ₹1.5 crores belonging to accused drug peddler Mudasir Ahmad Pir alias Sahil alias Doge S/o Shareef-U-Din R/o Firdous Colony, Bemina, Srinagar. The attachment proceedings were carried out under Section 68F(1) of the NDPS Act after obtaining confirmation from the Competent Authority SAFEMA, Government of India, Ministry of Finance, Department of Revenue, New Delhi.

The attached property comprises a double-storey residential house along with approximately 04 marlas of land situated at Firdous Colony, Bemina, Srinagar. Investigations revealed that the said property was acquired through proceeds generated from illicit narcotics trafficking.

In another significant action, Srinagar Police attached a residential house along with land worth approximately ₹50 lakhs belonging to notorious drug peddler Shafiq Ahmad Khawaja S/o Fateh Joo R/o Dildar Karnah, District Kupwara . The property was attached under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act, 1985 in connection with Case FIR No. 10/2024 registered under Sections 8/21-29 of the NDPS Act at Police Station M.R. Gunj.

The attachment proceedings in both cases were carried out after following due legal procedures and establishing that the properties were acquired through proceeds generated from illicit narcotics trafficking.

These actions reflect the firm resolve of Srinagar Police to dismantle the financial infrastructure of drug trafficking networks and to ensure that illegally acquired assets of drug peddlers are identified and attached under the provisions of law.
