Vasant Panchami, also called (Saraswati Puja) is a festival that marks the preparation for the arrival of spring. The festival is celebrated by people in various ways depending upon the region in life in the Indian subcontinent. Vasant Panchami also marks the start of preparation for Holika and Holi, which takes place forty days later. The Vasant Utsava (festival) on Panchami is celebrated forty days before Spring, because any season's transition period is 40 days, and after that, the season comes into full bloom.

Republic Day is a national holiday in India. It honors the date on which the Constitution of India came into effect on 26 January 1950 replacing the Government of India Act (1935) as the governing document of India and thus, turning the nation into a newly formed republic.

The Constitution was adopted by the Indian Constituent Assembly on 26 November 1949 and came into effect on 26 January 1950 with a democratic government system, completing the country's transition towards becoming an independent republic. 26 January was chosen as the date for Republic day because it was on this day in 1929 when the Declaration of Indian Independence (Purna Swaraj) was proclaimed by the Indian National Congress as opposed to the Dominion status offered by the British Regime.

Makar Sankranti is the first big festival of the year celebrated across India. Makar Sankranti is a perfect example of unity in diversity. Every state in India has different ways of celebrating Makar Sankranti but the theme - harvest season - is the uniting factor. Makar Sankranti is essentially a celebration of a bumper harvest. According to the Hindu calendar, there are 12 Sankranti days in a year. Each Sankranti marks the beginning of a month and is observed in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Punjab, Odisha, Bihar, West Bengal and Nepal. Sankranti also represents the movement of the Sun from one constellation to another. From Makar Sankranti, the Sun starts moving towards the northern hemisphere, marking the end of the winter season and days start getting longer. Hence, Makar Sankranti is also known as Uttarayan, the beginning of an auspicious period.

Lohri is a popular Punjabi winter folk festival celebrated primarily in the Punjab region.
The significance and legends about the Lohri festival are many and these link the festival to the Punjab region.
It is believed by many that the festival commemorates the passing of the winter solstice.
Lohri marks the end of winter and is a traditional welcome of longer days and the sun's journey to the northern hemisphere by Sikhs and Hindus in the Punjab region of the Indian subcontinent. It is observed the night before Makar Sankranti, also known as Maghi, and according to the solar part of the lunisolar Bikrami calendar, and typically falls about the same date every year (January 13).

Ghasidas also known as Guru Ghasidas, was Guru (teacher) of the Satnampanth in the early 19th century. The Satnami sect is similar to Sikhism. It was Guru Ghasidas who decided to start treating everyone the same in a deep forested part of Chhattisgarh, India.

Ghasidas was born on 18 December 1756 in Girodpuri, District – Balodabazar. Guru Ghasidas was the son of Mahngu Das and Amrotin Mata. Ghasidas preached Satnam particularly for the people of Chhattisgarh. After Guru Ghasidas, his teachings were carried on by his son, Guru Balakdas. Guru Ghasidas was the founder of the Satnami community in state of Chhattisgarh. During his lifetime, the political atmosphere in India was one of exploitation. Ghasidas experienced the evils of the caste system at an early age, which helped him to understand the social dynamics in a caste-ridden society and reject social inequality. To find solutions, he travelled extensively across Chhattisgarh.

Saint Guru Ghasidas established Satnami community in Chhattisgarh, India based on "Satnam" (meaning "Truth") and equality. The Guru's teachings and philosophy is similar to sikhism. Guru Ghasidas created a symbol of truth called "jaitkhambh" – a white painted log of wood, with a white flag on the top. The structure indicates a white man who follows the truth "satnam" is always steadfast and is the pillar of truth (satya ka stambh). The white flag indicates peace.
