A loan of ₹6,000 crore has been sanctioned for the acquisition of nearly 3,000 acres of land for the proposed Chhatrapati Sambhaji Raje International Airport at Purandar, Pune. The land acquisition process has reached its final stage, and compensation is expected to be disbursed to farmers within the next 15 days, District Collector Jitendra Dudi said.
After years of delay, the proposed Purandar International Airport project has finally gathered momentum. The district administration is initiating steps to finalise the land acquisition package in the first fortnight of March and begin disbursing payments to affected farmers.
Land acquisition for the airport will cover nearly 3,000 acres across seven villages in Purandar taluka — Pargaon, Kumbharvalan, Ekhatpur, Munjawadi, Khanwadi, Udachi Wadi and Vanpuri.
