Un anniversaire négligé: il y a 66 ans, le 18 octobre 1954, se réunirent dans le village de Kijeour, sur la frontière de l'Inde française et de l'Union indienne, 178 élus des Etablissements français de l'Inde, pour décider s'ils souhaitaient rester dans la République française, ou être rattachés à la République de l'Inde.
170 votèrent pour le rattachement.
L'administration française quitta le territoire deux semaines plus t**d, le 1er novembre, qui est fêté officiellement sous le nom de "Puducherry Liberation Day" depuis 2014
A neglected anniversary: 66 years ago, on 18th October 1954, 178 elected representatives of French Settlements in India gathered in Kizhoor village, on the borderline of French India and Indian Union, for deciding if they were wishing to remain within French Republic or to merge with the Republic of India.
170 representatives voted for the merger.
French administration left the territory two weeks later, on 1st November, which is officially celebrated as "Puducherry Liberation Day" since 2014.
