Water is one of the most critical resources in port operations, and at Visakha Container Terminal, every drop is treated with responsibility ๐Ÿ’ง

With the implementation of a Zero Liquid Discharge system โ™ป๏ธ, Visakha Container Terminal has achieved a 24% reduction in annual water consumption, reducing usage from 12,735,000 litres in 2024 to 9,748,000 litres in 2025.

This translates to annual savings of nearly 2,987,000 litres ๐Ÿ“‰

The transformation is driven by a structured sustainability approach including water audits, STP installation and relocation, wastewater capture from container washing, gravity-based pipeline systems, bio-toilets, and recycled water reservoirs for landscaping ๐ŸŒฑ

At Visakha Container Terminal, water is not wasted. It is continuously recovered and reused within the system ๐Ÿ”„

This is not just operational efficiency. It is responsible port infrastructure in action, shaping a more sustainable future for maritime logistics โš“

๐ŸŒฑ Growing a Greener Tomorrow

Visakha Container Terminal continues its commitment to sustainability with the second phase of its large-scale plantation drive at Andhra University on 7th April 2026.

Building on the success of the first phase, which saw 500 saplings planted with a remarkable 100 percent survival rate, the initiative now expands into a four-acre green belt with over 1,000 trees.

The plantation features a diverse mix of species including mango, neem, kadamba, mahogany and tabebuia, carefully selected to enhance biodiversity, improve air quality and create a sustainable green cover within the campus. With an estimated carbon sequestration potential of over 90 tonnes of carbon dioxide annually, the initiative represents a meaningful step towards reducing environmental impact.

This collaborative effort between industry and academia highlights the importance of sustained action in building a greener and more resilient future.
