- We were sitting at the monastery premise, by the sparkling Indus, near the village of Saspol, is a hillock in the valley of Likir where situated one of Ladakh's oldest monastery, Likir Gompa.
I asked the kid monks there, if they have seen the grey ghost, the fabled creature of Ladakh. Panthera uncia. Snow Leopards! They fell silent, and after a while, pointed out the mountains behind.
I looked up. The mountains got covered in clouds, or might be a snow storm. Beyond those clouds and mists, lies the kingdom of the elusive cats, far off human reach.
