t operations. Silchar Airport is a Civil Enclave, built during the World War II. The ATC Service is being provide by the Indian Air Force. The airport is situated on the foothills of the beautiful Barail Hill range. Silchar Airport is the 2nd busiest airport (50 civilian flights/week) in Assam and 4th busiest in North east after Guwahati, Agartala and Imphal and handles approximately 200,000 PAX yearly. At present Air India, Spice jet & Indigo Airlines are the only schedule airlines operating at Silchar Airport ,providing connectivity to Kolkata, Guwahati, Delhi via Guwahati, Bengaluru & Jaipur via Kolkata. Silchar Airport is equipped with Navigational & Landing Aids such as ILS (Instrument Landing System), Cat I (LLZ, GP, LPDME), DVOR (Doppler Very High Frequency Omnidirectional Radio range) collocated with HPDME (High Power Distance Measuring Equipment). Visual aid Lighting system such as PAPI (Precision approach path indicator) for both side of the runway (06/24), SAPL(Simple Approach Light), HIRL (High Intensity Runway edge Lights). Bay 02&03 - A319/A320/B787-800 type Aircrafts. The terminal is equipped with modern amenities for the facilitation of the passengers. The terminal has Six CUTE check-in counters along with one Self Boarding Kiosk (CUSS) & One Automated boarding gate facility for the convenience of Passengers. This has ensured smooth handling of 150 to 200 Passengers at a given time. The Terminal is equipped with state of the art CCTV system, Explosive Trace Detectors, X-Ray Machine Inspection System, DFMDs, HHMDs for safety & security of the Passengers, Aircrafts & the terminal. Silchar airport has Traveler Shop,selling local handicraft items, Beverages Shop & Outlet for eating and shopping at the airport premises. ASTC A/C Bus Service is available to passengers at a very nominal rates. The booking counter for the same has been provided in the Arrival Lounge. Rest rooms are also available for transit passengers with charges applied as per AAI rules. There are two conveyor belts available in the arrival building to support multiple aircraft at a single time. Conveyor Weighing system is available at Check-in counters. Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. provides the Aviation Turbine Fuel service at Silchar Airport.
