কেদারনাথ বেড়ানোর সবচেয়ে ভাল সময় হল মে ও জুন, বর্ষাকালে সাধারণত কেউ যায় না কেদারে, সেপ্টেম্বরে অক্টোবরেও যাওয়া যায়, এবং শীতকালে প্রায় ছ’মাসের কাছাকাছি কেদারনাথ সম্পূর্ণ বন্ধ রাখা হয়৷ স্থানীয় লোকজনও থাকেন না ওইসময়৷ শিব তখন থাকেন গুপ্তকাশী বা উখিমঠে৷

ট্রেনে আসতে হলে হরিদ্বার পৌঁছাতে হবে। ফ্লাইট এ আসতে হলে দিল্লি বা দেরাদুন পৌঁছাতে হবে। হরিদ্বার থেকে গাড়ি নিয়ে সীতাপুর বা শোনপ্রয়াগ পৌঁছন৷ শোনপ্রয়াগ এরপর চার কিলোমিটার দূরে গৌরীকুণ্ড৷ এই পথে শেয়ার জিপের ব্যবস্থা আছে৷ হেঁটেও গৌরীকুণ্ড পৌঁছানো যায়৷ গৌরীকুণ্ড থেকে সাড়ে ছয় কিলোমিটার দূরে ভীমবলি৷ এখানে মন্দাকিনীর ওপর একটা ব্রিজ তৈরি হয়েছে৷ ব্রিজ পেরিয়ে প্রায় চার কিলোমিটার গেলে লিঞ্চোলি৷ লিঞ্চোলি থেকে কেদার পাঁচ কিলোমিটার৷ হরিদ্বার থেকে কেদার যাওয়ার বাস/শেয়ার গাড়িও পাবেন৷ উত্তরাখণ্ডের বিভিন্ন স্থান থেকে হেলিকপ্টারেও কেদার পৌঁছানো যায়৷
