The 12259 Sealdah–Bikaner AC Duronto Express is a premium, fully air-conditioned superfast train operating four days a week to cover a 1,918 km cross-country journey in approximately 25.5 hours.
Equipped with modern LHB (Linke Hofmann Busch) coaches, the rake offers 1A, 2A, and 3A class accommodations with end-to-end onboard pantry catering included in the fare.
Typically hauled by a high-speed WAP-7 electric locomotive, its high-priority route connects West Bengal to Rajasthan via major commercial and technical halts including Dhanbad, Kanpur Central, and New Delhi.

Dumdum Junction (DDJ) was opened in 19th century, it was part of Kolkata’s earliest suburban rail network. The name comes from the area that housed the Dum Dum Arsenal, where the “dum-dum bullet” was first made. DDJ connects Sealdah with northern suburbs and is one of the busiest junctions in the city. It also sits close to Kolkata’s first airport site, linking aviation and rail history. The old bridges and vintage boards still echo the station’s colonial past.
