Ghatiana dvirupa Pati, Bajantri & Hegde, 2024, a new species of freshwater crab recently discovered in the Western Ghats of Karnataka, India.
The species name is derived from the Sanskrit meaning βhaving two formsβ because of the difference in colour between male and female crabs in life. The common name βMr. and Mrs. Ghat Crabβ also alludes to the fact that male crabs of the species possess pink colouration of their body in contrast to the purplish-brown coloured females.
