At the 'Allotment of Land for Industry' programme hosted by the Government of West Bengal in Kolkata, we were allotted ~256 acres at Jangal Sundari Karmanagari Phase II Industrial Park, Raghunathpur, Purulia, to set up an integrated defence manufacturing facility, expected to be West Bengal's first large-scale unit of its kind.

We are grateful to Hon'ble Chief Minister Shri Suvendu Adhikari for his leadership and vision, and to Hon'ble Minister of Commerce & Industries in West Bengal Shri Tapas Roy Ji and Hon'ble Minister of State Smt. Moumita Biswas Misra Ji of the Department of Industry, Commerce and Enterprises for their continued support through this process. Our thanks also go out to the Chief Secretary, the MD of WBIDC, and the many officials of the Government of West Bengal who worked to make this allotment possible.

This allotment marks the start of a new chapter for Defence in West Bengal. We look forward to breaking ground at Raghunathpur in the months ahead, and to building a facility that the state, and the nation, can be proud of.

Happy birthday, Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji.

There are leaders who manage a country, and there are leaders who change what a country believes it is capable of. For all of us in Indian manufacturing, the last decade has been the second kind.

Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat were never just slogans on our shop floor. They were the reason we chose to build forged wheels and wheelsets at JTRWF here at home, for a product India once bought almost entirely from abroad. PM Gati Shakti brought road, rail and ports into one plan, and gave manufacturers like us the confidence to invest ahead of demand. Through JEM Energy, we are now building for a cleaner way for India to move.

And only days ago in New Delhi, the world watched you chair the BRICS Summit and guide the member nations to a shared declaration. The same conviction, carried onto a global stage.

Visvesvaraya kept two clocks in his office. One ran fast. One ran slow. It was a reminder, for himself and for everyone who walked in: time lost never comes back.

That single habit tells you more about the man than most biographies could.

Engineering, to him, wasn't drafting tables and blueprints. It was discipline. It was service. It was building things that outlast the person who built them, dams, water systems, entire institutions, all still standing generations later.

We forget that sometimes. We treat engineering like a job description. He treated it like a responsibility to the country.

So on Engineer's Day, here's to everyone still carrying that same weight. The ones solving problems nobody sees, fixing what's broken before it fails, building the invisible systems that just work.

Thank you for the work that holds everything else up.

It isn't. It is the last line of defence, not the steering.

The steering comes from the fact that a railway wheel is not flat. On Indian Railways the tread is set at an inclination of 1 in 20.

Roll a paper cup across a table and it curves towards its narrow end. A wheelset is two shallow cones on a common axle. Drift off centre, and the same geometry nudges it back. On a curve, the outer wheel rolls on a larger radius than the inner, which is part of how a train gets round a bend without a differential.

A couple of millimetres of taper, held to fractions of a millimetre. That is the standard we build to.

Great work starts with great lessons.

Long before the work, the foundations were built by teachers, the ones who taught us to think, not just to memorize. That is what Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan believed in. It is a principle that still holds, whether in a classroom or at work.

The habits we learned early, asking why, solving problems, adapting to new information, are the same ones we rely on today.
