This day, 22 years ago, Nedumbassery opened its doors to the aviation world ! 😍❤️👏

The first flight from Dammam had landed at CIAL today, June 10th in 1999. The sights on that day still lie fresh in our memories 😍

From then on Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) has grown every day, breaking even in 2003-04 and generating huge profits ever since. From becoming the world's first fully solar powered airport to now aiming to become the first to totally take out landing and parking charges by 2030, our airport has taught the aviation industry a lot of valuable lessons.

The impact the airport has had on our city's growth is unbelievable as well. It has, almost by itself, made the city grow towards it, now becoming the gateway into the city as well. Various projects like upcoming Airport City, Kochi GIFT city (not far away), Kochi Metro phase 3 and proposed Silver Line all promise to elevate CIAL to the next level in the near future as well.

Thankyou and congratulations on an incredible career Shri.VJ Kurian Sir ! 👏💐❤️

The man who spearheaded our pride - Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) for 19 years, is stepping down as its MD tomorrow.

Under him, our globally renowned airport has achieved incredible heights, grown manifold in traffic, increased capacity by manifold with new international and domestic terminals of global standards, and revolutionised the entire world in terms of how to source energy to run a big airport ! 🎊🎉

CIAL bagged the most prestigious 'Champion of Earth' award from the United Nations in 2018, and has won many awards for service quality from Airports Council International (ACI), all under this visionary leader. He has been with CIAL right from its inception, and so his role in what Kochi is today is something we must all be very grateful of.

CIAL even managed to overcome its biggest threat - flooding, with the comprehensive flood mitigation project under him. CIAL even went on to assist in pan-state transportation projects like the inland waterway navigation project. Likewise, CIAL has become a role model for the entire world in many aspects, under this brilliant man's leadership.

We really are out of words to salute your revolutionary acts and decisions. From treading through unexplored territories like exploring PPP model for an airport for the first time in the entire country, to opening the eyes of airport authorities across the world on how to meet an airport's entire energy needs from the sun above, everyone has to take a leaf out of VJ Kurian's book.

Once again, thankyou sir, thankyou for all you've done. Your contributions will always be heralded 👏
We can hope that such important organisations in our city get such visionary gentlemen at the helm in times to come as well.
