“Because the Planet Isn’t a Rental We Can Leave Messy”
Once upon a not-so-distant time, climate change felt like a topic best left to scientists, policy documents, and that one overly enthusiastic uncle who carried a steel straw to weddings.
But now? Now it’s in our backyards, balconies, news feeds, and air-conditioner bills. The weather’s moodier than a teenager, the seasons are skipping their cues, and let’s face it — even mangoes are confused about when to show up.
Yet, we still don’t talk about it enough. Why?
Maybe we think it’s too big, too technical, too depressing. Or worse — someone else’s job to fix.
But here’s the truth:
This isn’t a group project we can ghost.
The mess? It’s ours.
The cleanup? Also ours.
And the deadline? Yesterday.
Talking about climate change doesn’t mean becoming an expert overnight. It means asking the right questions, making better choices, and nudging one another — kindly — to care a little more.
It’s about turning climate talk into chai talk.
It’s about making thrifted tees cooler than impulse hauls, and normalizing “preloved” over “brand new.”
It’s about telling our kids why we carry a cloth bag, why we compost, and why we refuse the extra plastic spoon.
Because if they’re going to inherit this planet, they deserve the full story — not just the mess.
And that’s exactly why I’ve started a little storytelling corner of my own:
