Murkongselek station after 18 hours of train 🚂

🇬🇧 - As we reached our destination, the train came to an abrupt halt. The usual bustle was replaced by a heavy silence... Nobody seemed to understand the reason for this sudden stop.
20 min, 30 min passed in this terse atmosphere before we decided to take the lead and go and see what was going on.
In the half-light, in the middle of the jungle, we climbed up the carriages one by one without ever seeing the end of it...
It was then that a surreal scene presented itself to us. With shock and horror we realised that we had hit an elephant...

🇫🇷 - Alors que nous arrivions à destination, le train s’arrêta brusquement. L’agitation habituelle laissa place à un silence pesant... Personne n’avait l’air de comprendre la raison de cet arrêt brutal.
20 min, 30 min s’écoulèrent dans cette atmosphère laconique avant que nous décidâmes de prendre les devant et d’aller voir ce qui se tramait.
Dans la pénombre, au milieu de la jungle, nous remontions les wagons un à uns sans jamais en voir le bout…
C’est alors qu’une scène surréaliste s’offra à nous. Avec stupeur et effroi nous réalisons que nous avions percuté un éléphant...

🇬🇧 - Between two stops, this little girl with bewitching eyes discreetly climbs into our carriage. To my amazement, she began to perform contortionist movements with incredible ease. Fascinated, I couldn’t take my eyes off her suppleness and grace. The other passengers seemed just as amazed, forgetting for a moment the monotony of the journey. As the train approached the next station, she finished her performance, gave me a shy smile and disappeared, leaving an indelible mark on my mind.

🇫🇷 - Entre deux arrêts, cette petite fille au regard envoûtant monte discrètement dans notre wagon. À ma grande surprise, elle commence à exécuter des mouvements de contorsionniste avec une aisance incroyable. Fasciné, je ne pouvais détacher mes yeux de sa souplesse et de sa grâce. Les autres passagers semblaient tout aussi émerveillés, oubliant un instant la monotonie du trajet. Quand le train s’est approché de la gare suivante, elle a terminé sa performance, m’a offert un sourire timide et s’est éclipsée, laissant une trace indélébile dans mon esprit.

L’HISTOIRE DERRIÈRE CETTE PHOTO 📖

14 septembre 2022, place Naghsh-e Jahan, Isfahan, Iran

C’est au petit matin que j’arrive dans la ville d’Isfahan, ancienne capitale de l’empire P***e.
Dans ce joyaux architecturale situé au centre de l’Iran je retrouve certains compagnons de route, dont l’inévitable Bertrand !

Là-bas nous sommes une vraie bande de voyageurs : Motards, Cyclistes, auto-stoppeurs venant de toute l’Europe, nous nous rejoignons et partageons nos histoires. Une véritable auberge espagnole !

Au petit matin, avant le lever du soleil, hommes et femmes se réunissent sur la place Naghsh-e Jahan pour faire du sport ensemble. Badminton, yoga, cyclisme... tous les iraniens se rassemblent pour braver les interdits instaurés par le gouvernement, avant que la république et la police des mœurs ne s’éveillent.

Prise deux jours avant la mort de Mahsa Ahmini cette photo résonne à posteriori comme une ode à la liberté. Un acte de résistance dans un pays où le droit des femmes est propriété de ses gouvernants.

Le 16 septembre l’Iran bascule et son atmosphère, alors douce et paisible, ne sera plus jamais la même…

🇬🇧- It's early morning when I arrive in the town of Isfahan, the former capital of the Persian Empire.
In this architectural gem in the centre of Iran, I meet with some of my fellow travellers, including the inevitable Bertrand!

Here we're a real bunch of travellers: motorcyclists, cyclists and hitchhikers from all over Europe, meeting up and sharing our stories. A real Potluck dinner !

Early morning before sunrise in Nagsh-e jahan square, men and women gather playing badminton, practice yoga, cycle. Iranians congregate to defy the bans imposed on them by their government, before the republic and the morality police awake.

Taken two days before Mahsa Ahmini's death, this photo resonates in retrospect as an ode to freedom. An act of resistance in a country where women's rights are the property of its rulers.

On 16 September, Iran was turned upside down. The gentle and peaceful environment prior would never be the same again.

Being with the teams on the field also means meeting families who are fighting every day to improve their situation.

In 50% of the cases, these are single mothers who have been abandoned by their husbands after the birth of a child, or who have left them because of domestic violence.

This sad reality is that of Mrs Minh, who in addition to her 3 children must take care of one of her nieces that her parents have abandoned.
However, by combining three jobs at the same time, she is doing everything she can to give her children a better life.
Mékong Plus tries to help her in this way by financially supporting part of her children's school grants, and with the help of a micro-credit at 0% interest rate so that she can develop her activities and increase her income.

From a personal point of view, I was impressed by the resilience of this woman who sacrifices herself every day for her children. But also the strength and collective help of the neighbours, authorities and associations who struggle to help them. A great lesson in life and humility that puts us face to face with our privileges.

[J+310] Bicycle and scholarship for the children🫶🏼

🇬🇧- Yesterday I was able to hand over to the children the scholarships and the bike that we were able to donate thanks to fundraising.

It was really special and an honor for me to materialise this achievement of my trip 🫰🏻
Thanks to all your donations, we were able to raise 7000€ and give 26 bikes and 45 scholarships to the students of Anh Duong 🙌🏼
I have no words, Thank you so much🙏🏼

I am also very grateful to for showing me around their projects these past few weeks and for making this happen. Every day, their teams on the ground are doing hard work, focusing on education, micro-credit and sustainable development, to help people in precarious situations to have a better life.
