DVS Raju led consortium through an international bidding process. The Concession Agreement was signed in August, 2003. Gangavaram Port has the unique distinction of being one of the few Greenfield port projects in India which has been implemented on schedule, without any cost overrun. Construction at the site commenced in December 2005 and the Port commenced trial operations in August 2008. The Po

rt started its commercial operations in April 2009. Gangavaram Port has been developed as an all weather, multipurpose port with water depth upto 21 meters, making it the deepest and capable of handling fully laden Super Cape size vessels of upto 200,000 DWT. Gangavaram Port, with its deep draft berths and efficient operations has become the gateway port for a hinterland spread over 8 states across Eastern, Western, Southern and Central India. Its ability to handle larger vessels efficiently has resulted in substantial savings to the Port users and the trade. Gangavaram Port provides efficient cargo handling services for a variety of bulk and break bulk cargo groups including Coal, Iron Ore, Fertiliser, Limestone, Bauxite, Raw Sugar, Project Cargo, Alumina, Steel products etc. Gangavaram Port, its related facilities and material handling system are among the most advanced in Asia and meet the highest standards in terms of pollution prevention and safety. Gangavaram Port is the only sea port in India that had provided employment to the Project Affected families in the first year of operation.

On 10th September 2019 : Gangavaram Port provided financial contribution to facilitate issue of RTC Bus Passes to 2150 students of government schools (Government High Schools and Elementary Schools at Gajuwaka, Nadupur and Mindhi villages) around Gajuwaka.

The cheque was handed over to Mr. Yesudhanam, Regional Manager APSRTC by Mr N Sambasiva Rao, CEO. Mr V Janardhana Rao, COO, Mr B Balakrishna, CSO, Mr L P S Ramu Naidu , Vice President (Liaison and Security) and Mr K Madhav, Depot Manager, Gajuwaka, APSRTC were present.

Keeping in view of the drinking water scarcity during summer season, Gangavaram port as part of its CSR programme, started supplying drinking water free of cost to Yathapalem, Srinagar rehabilitated colonies and Gangavaram village.

However due to worsened condition in Gangavaram village, Management of Gangavaram Port have decided to deploy an additional vehicle exclusively for Gangavaram Village.

The additional vehicle was flagged off by B Balakrishna, Vice President (R&R and Security). Mr. L P S Ramu Naidu, Vice President (Liaison and Security), women from Gangavaram village were present in the program.

The Programme was inaugurated by B Balakrishna, Vice President (R&R and Security). Mr. L P S Ramu Naidu, Vice President (Liaison and Security), Cheekati Appa Rao, Ch Sankara Rao, Cheekati Srinu and other village elders were present at the time.

Gangavaram Port organises a Mega Medical Camp

Vizag: 09th June, 2019: Gangavaram Port Limited conducted a Mega Medical Camp in HB Colony Community Hall, Pedagantyada Mandal, Visakhapatnam. Sri Tippala Nagi Reddy, MLA, Gajuwaka Constituency inaugurated the medical camp in the presence of Sri Sambasiva Rao, CEO, Sri. V. Janardhan Rao, COO, Sri. B. Balakrishna, Vice President, Vigilance (R&R and Security), Sri L.P.S. Ramu Naidu, Vice President (R&R and Security) and along with staff members of Gangavaram Port attended in the program in addition to eminent doctors from Vizag.

The camp which started from 9 am onwards had a well qualified panel of doctors who examined the patients. The panel included the following doctors: Dr. Simhachalam, MBBS (General Surgeon & Surgical Gastroenterologist), Dr. D. Rakesh, MBBS (Cardiology), Dr. G. Sathyanarayana, MBBS (Children Specialist), Dr. K. Sathyanarayana, MBBS(Ortho), Dr. P. Usha Devi, MBBS (Gynecologist), Dr. Phanindranath Reddy, MBBS (Pulmonary Medicine), Dr. D. Sunitha, MBBS (General Physician), Dr. D. Vidhyasagar Rao, MBBS (General Medicine), Dr. D. Sai Sathyanarayana, MBBS (General Physician), Dr. D. Seshulatha, MBBS (General Physician), Dr. K. Srinivas Rao, MBBS, Medical Officer Gangavaram Port. The participants of the camp went through a systematic process of checkups. Preliminary diagnosis and consultation by the doctors who conducted free check-ups for men, women & children.

Total 460 persons were examined and treated by doctors. Medicines & Reports were distributed free of cost. This campaign got tremendous support from the Burma colony, Corada colony, Nadipur, H B Colony, Sitapuram villagers since this is fourth mega medical camp in the same village.

According to Gangavaram Port Management “This camp is organized as a part of our CSR Programme to ensure well being of our neighbourhood. The free camp services are especially offered to the needy patients who cannot afford quality healthcare services. We aim to improve the health of the general public & help reduce the prevalent sickness in the surrounding areas.”

Gangavaram Port is committed towards to the development of the community and
society and this camp was a step to spread the message of healthy living.
