Yesterday's private walk reminded me once again why I love introducing people to Delhi's stories.
My audience included two teenagers and a young adult among a group of five, and the idea was to help them see Delhi's monuments not as old stones, not as history and as stories that would stay with them forever. Simple? Right?
We had to start our walk at Qutub Minar at 7:00 am. When I arrived at 6:40am (I arrive a bit early always) , there wasn't a single tourist in sight. In that rare silence, I found myself surrounded by thousands of stories. It felt as though I had stepped back in time and was witnessing the days of the Delhi Sultanate unfold before me. In those quiet moments, I could almost see the soul of Delhi.
With gentle steps, I wandered around the complex, soaking in the stillness and living the moment.
By the time my audience arrived, a story had already begun to take shape in my mind. Together, we unfolded it chapter by chapter, and Delhi slowly came alive before us.
That is the magic of wandering through Delhi. Its monuments whisper their stories to you. Every corner, every turn, every weathered stone echoes the stories of past.
Like soldiers, we braved the June heat and spent hours exploring Agrasen ki Baoli, the Humayun's Tomb Museum, and Humayun's Tomb. Each place revealed a different layer of Delhi's rich past and made me fall in love with the city all over again.
Delhi is beautiful. And if you truly want to hear its stories, step outside and listen carefully to the whispering stones of its ruins.
