Ganesh Chaturthi celebrates the birth of Lord Ganesha, revered in Hindu tradition as the remover of obstacles and a deity of wisdom and prosperity.

Celebrated across India, the festival has ancient roots, while freedom fighter Bal Gangadhar Tilak popularised its public celebration in Maharashtra in the late 19th century. Today, communities across the country welcome Ganesha into decorated pandals, with Maharashtra, particularly Mumbai and Pune, renowned for its grand celebrations, music, cultural programmes and processions.

At home, families welcome smaller idols with prayers, flowers and offerings, including modaks, traditionally associated with Ganesha. The festivities conclude with visarjan, when devotees immerse the idol in water.

At BLTM 2026 in New Delhi (2–4 September), Rajeev Kohli, CIS, CITP, DMCP, Joint Managing Director – Creative Travel, spoke on the panel 'Competing for the Indian MICE Market: What Makes a Destination Win?'

He was joined by Aishvarya Guhagarkar (Director – MICE, Switzerland Convention Bureau), Dheera Hettiarachchi (Chairman, Sri Lanka Convention Bureau), Sunil Kumar (President, TAAI) and N S N Mohan (Vice President, Skal International).

As one of India’s key platforms for business travel and MICE, BLTM 2026 brought together industry leaders to exchange ideas on evolving traveller expectations, emerging opportunities and what it takes for destinations to truly compete.

The conversation touched on why destinations need to offer more than geographical convenience or conventional infrastructure. Unique experiences, tailored offerings and the finer details that make a journey memorable can turn a destination’s potential into a compelling proposition.

Marking the birth of Lord Krishna, Janmashtami is a time of faith, joy and stories about Krishna. Krishna is one of Hinduism's most beloved figures.

In Mathura, Krishna’s birthplace, devotees stay awake all night to pray and attend the midnight birth ceremony. In Vrindavan, people remember Krishna’s childhood through songs and stories. Vrindavan is full of flowers, music and Raas Leela performances. In Dwarka, Krishna’s legendary kingdom, the Dwarkadhish Temple becomes the centre of the celebration, holding big rituals and a midnight aarti. In Maharashtra people celebrate with Dahi Handi. Human pyramids reach for pots of curd. In Patan, Nepal devotees go to the Krishna Mandir to honour the birth of Krishna.

Most people see Everest from a screen. A few see it from 4,250 metres, over breakfast.

The helicopter lifts off from Kathmandu, rising above the Khumbu Valley as the peaks reveal themselves one by one: Everest, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Makalu, Cho Oyu. It lands at Kongde, one of the highest luxury lodges on earth, where breakfast comes with an unbroken panorama of the Himalayas on every side.

A remarkable achievement from our team member, Akash Gupta who completed the Surya Spiti Marathon last weekend. At elevations reaching over 3,800 metres, navigating thin air and demanding mountain terrain, this is no small feat.

Starting from Sumdo in Spiti, Akash covered 21 kilometres in 2 hours and 39 minutes. What makes this achievement even more special is that he dedicated the run to Creative Travel. It reflects the same values we bring to our work every day: perseverance, dedication, and the willingness to go the extra mile.

Dear Partners,

Many of you have been in touch with us following news of the devastating flash floods and landslides affecting the Nepal - Tibet border region, so we wanted to share a brief update.

The situation remains fluid, with significant damage reported in northern Nepal and across the border in Tibet. Rescue and relief operations are underway, and the full extent of the tragedy is still becoming clear.

We can confirm that none of our guests or team members have been affected. Our local teams are monitoring developments closely and reviewing any potential impact on upcoming travel arrangements.

Our thoughts are very much with the people who have lost their lives, those who remain missing, their families, and everyone affected by this terrible disaster.

At this stage, there is no reason for us to speculate while information continues to emerge. Should we identify any impact on an upcoming journey, we will contact the relevant partner immediately and work through any necessary alternatives.

The Creative Travel family of brands takes the safety and well-being of our guests extremely seriously and would never compromise on it. We remain in close contact with our teams and partners on the ground and will continue to monitor the situation carefully.

Onam, Kerala's ten-day harvest festival, celebrates the homecoming of the beloved King Mahabali, whose reign is remembered as a golden era of prosperity, happiness, and harmony. Beginning with Atham, the celebrations unfold over ten days, with flower carpets growing larger each day, homes being prepared, and communities coming together in anticipation of Thiruvonam.

And today is Thiruvonam, the final and most important day of the ten-day celebration. It is a day for new clothes (Onakodi), gathering with loved ones, and the grand Onasadya, an elaborate feast of traditional dishes served on a banana leaf and featuring sweet payasam. Across Kerala, the season also comes alive with Vallam Kali boat races, cultural performances such as Kathakali and Thiruvathirakali, and the spirited Pulikali, most famously in Thrissur.

The Portuguese spent 400 years in Diu. They built a fort, ruled the island, and may have helped shape one of India's most striking cave labyrinths in the process.

It is believed that the Portuguese quarried building material from the rock formations outside the fort walls, leaving behind a network of tunnels, arches, and hollowed chambers that were further shaped by natural processes over time. Sunlight filters through openings in the rock, illuminating passages that disappear into darkness. Local folklore also holds that Portuguese soldiers hid in these same caves during Operation Vijay in 1961, when India liberated Diu from Portuguese rule.
