In Memory: Sirra's Tribute to the Eternal Voice – Asha Bhosle (1933–2026)
One voice, countless emotions. We remember Asha Bhosle, the legendary playback singer whose versatility defined generations of Indian music.
From “Piya Tu Ab To Aaja” to “Rangeela Re”, Asha ji’s songs were a journey through love, mischief, longing, and joy. In a career spanning over eight decades, she gifted us more than 12,000 songs across 20+ languages.
Asha’s brilliance lit up films like _Umrao Jaan_, _Teesri Manzil_, and _Dil To Pagal Hai_. Her bold cabarets and soulful ghazals made her an irreplaceable icon of Indian cinema.
Her collaborations with R.D. Burman, O.P. Nayyar, and countless greats created timeless magic. Her voice carried romance, rebellion, and resilience in equal measure.
Her life was a testament to passion and perseverance. Through personal trials and professional triumphs, she never stopped singing, inspiring, and evolving.
Honoured with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2000 and the Padma Vibhushan in 2008, she won two National Film Awards and remained active well into her 90s.
Asha ji passed away on 12 April 2026 in Mumbai at the age of 92. Her last rites were held at Shivaji Park, Mumbai.
Sirra salutes Asha Bhosle for her dedication, versatility, and unmatched contribution to music. Thank you for moving us, inspiring us, and being the eternal voice of Indian cinema.
Your songs will live on in every heart that ever loved, lost, or dreamed.
Rest in melody, Asha ji.
