I almost don’t want to tell you about this place…

Because finding a genuinely good hidden gem in Delhi is getting harder by the day.

Tucked away behind all the fancy art and decor stores, this little cafe has the kind of vibe that makes you want to cancel your plans and just sit here for hours.

Great food, really good coffee, a tiramisu you absolutely need to try and enough quiet corners for a proper catch-up or date night.

And yes, I’ve found another Delhi cafe worth keeping on your list.

Save this for your next cafe hopping day.

Hyderabad was less of a trip and more of an extended food coma. Biryani, followed by more biryani, with some seriously good food in between.

The verdict? Not a single bad biryani. I’d happily fly back to Hyderabad, ignore every tourist attraction and spend the entire trip eating.

Leading the charge was Hotel Shadab — 10/10. Easily the best biryani of the trip. Be prepared to battle crowds of hungry people and a long wait, but it’s absolutely worth it. The Chicken Gaurani was ridiculously delicious too. Qubani ka Meetha? Not really my thing.

Nawaab’s
Biryani — 8/10
Patthar ka Gosht — 6/10
Double ka Meetha — 6/10

Mehfil’s Biryani — 8/10
Simple, satisfying and exactly what you want from a Hyderabad biryani.

Antera brought the vibes and the food. Guntur Bilal Biryani — 7/10, mainly because the Nalli Gosht Biryani was sold out. The Kodi Koora, a regional chicken curry, made up for it — 8/10.

Pista House Biryani — 7/10.

And then there was True Black — arguably the best coffee and cakes of the trip, served with an ambience that makes you want to stay much longer than planned.

Hyderabad, I came for the city. I left thinking about the biryani.

Would gladly go back. For food. And absolutely nothing else.

When Instagram tells you a restaurant is “unmissable”, sometimes you should just… miss it.

Nadoo had been ALL over my feed, and as a South Indian curry simp, I walked in with expectations higher than the number of reels I’d seen.

The interiors? Cosy.
The service? Impeccable.
The food? Let’s just say the algorithm and I need to have a serious conversation.

The starters were decent, but the main course was where the plot went missing. Spicy Mango Curry tasting like sambar, Chicken Ghee Roast drowning in gravy, and a Russell Market Raan that was tender but had absolutely nothing interesting to say.

And baos with ghee roast? That’s not fusion. That’s a cry for help.

₹14,000 for four later, we left doing what every disappointed diner does — discussing the lesser-known places that could have fed us better for half the price.

Delhi's most exclusive cocktail experience only has 9 seats. And somehow, very few people are talking about it.

Hidden inside Barbet and Pals is Cavity, a speakeasy where every weekend, just nine guests are taken through a nine-course cocktail tasting inspired by India's GI-tagged ingredients. Add a menu by Chef Amninder Sandhu, stories behind every cocktail, and an evening full of crazy stories, and you have one of the most memorable dining experiences in the city.

No spoilers. Just book a seat, go in with an open mind, and let the experience do the talking.

I went to Nisaba for my birthday dinner and now I have a problem.

Every dessert will be judged against the Mango Malaiyo Kheer.

Chef Manish Mehrotra's newest restaurant is proof that you don't need a massive menu when every dish is this good. From the mutton cheese with blue cheese to the silky chicken reshmi, clay pot Motihari mutton and those unbelievable hing sattu kachoris, not a single dish missed.

A special shoutout to Chef Manish for stopping by our table and making the evening even more memorable with a birthday cake.

Delhi's fine dining scene has a new heavyweight and Nisaba deserves all the hype.

Would I go back?

For the Mango Malaiyo Kheer alone.

A birthday full of doing absolutely nothing… except eating exceptionally well. Honestly, the perfect kind of birthday weekend.
The wife completely spoiled me all weekend — cooking and ordering all my favourites: bread rolls, lasagna, éclairs… basically a nonstop parade of comfort food and happiness.
The nights were even better. We kicked things off with a stunning 9-course cocktail tasting paired with equally incredible food, and wrapped up the celebrations with the most fabulous birthday dinner at Nisaba — genuinely heavenly from start to finish.
Couldn’t have asked for a better birthday. Just good food, good drinks, great company, and zero responsibilities. Exactly how birthdays should be.

Expectation: cute artsy morning, great coffee, great food
Reality: coffee understood the assignment, food absolutely did not.
After a wholesome stroll through Lodhi Art District, we walked into Altogether Experimental with big hopes and even bigger hunger. The salted caramel cappuccino and strawberry smoothie showed up like overachievers—balanced, not too sweet, and exactly what we needed. No complaints, no notes.
And then came the food… which clearly missed the team meeting. The truffle mushroom croissant had no truffle personality and the texture was more soft-and-sad than flaky-and-fabulous. The cajun chicken sandwich forgot it was supposed to be cajun and just served neutral energy instead.
Moral of the story: come for the coffee, stay for the vibes, but maybe eat before you come.

I stood in line so you don’t have to wonder—is the viral benne dosa actually worth the hype?

9 AM on a weekday morning and we were still looking at a 30-minute wait… so yeah, the hype is very real. But once you’re inside, things are surprisingly smooth.
You order at a kiosk, pay, get assigned a random (and honestly pretty funny) name, and just wait for it to pop up on the screen with your order and pickup counter. Efficient, quick, no chaos.

We started with the ghee podi thatte idli and WOW… instant winner. Super soft, fluffy idlis loaded with that spicy podi mix, coconut chutney on the side and a hit of tomato chutney—absolute perfection.

Then came the iconic benne dosas—masala and podi masala dosa, loaded with a generous dollop of butter. Perfectly crisp on the outside, yet somehow soft and fluffy inside. The aloo masala and chutneys complemented everything beautifully, but what truly stood out was the tomato chutney and that podi masala— that was some serious next level stuff.
No sambar here, but trust me—you won’t even miss it.

We wrapped it up with filter coffee and Mysore pak. Both were nice, but compared to the rest of the meal, they didn’t really steal the show.

Final verdict? Definitely worth at least one visit. The crowds have eased a bit after the initial craze, so this might actually be the perfect time to go. You’ll probably still have to wait, but once you're in, everything moves so quickly that before you know it—you’re out, full, happy, and already thinking about that tomato chutney again.

Because FOMO is real and when everyone keeps talking about a place, you eventually have to go see what the hype is about.
So we landed up at Firenze Gelateria .gelateria on a weekday night thinking the crowd would be manageable. That plan failed immediately. The line was already long but the staff did something thoughtful and served everyone hot chocolate while waiting, which definitely made the queue easier.
After about 30 minutes we finally made it inside. Because of the rush they had stopped offering tastings that day so I went with my safest and most reliable flavour, pistachio.
And it absolutely delivered.
The gelato was incredibly creamy with a rich, deep pistachio flavour that reminded me instantly of the gelato I had in Italy. Smooth texture, balanced sweetness and that proper nutty taste that pistachio gelato should have.
Now I understand why this place is always packed.
That said, it is slightly on the expensive side. Surprisingly, the price here felt higher than what I paid for gelato in Italy. Also, skip the cone and get the gelato in a cup. The cup just works better with the texture and you get the full experience without the cone overpowering the flavour.
Would I stand in line again for this? Absolutely.
