The prohibition on wheat exports appears to be continuing.

According to reports, the government has decided not to waive the ban on exports of wheat and wheat products such as atta this year, and is also not considering easing the ban on shipment of broken rice. The 20% export tariff on white rice introduced in September 2022 will most likely be extended through this fiscal year. To boost supply, the government is considering implementing stock-holding limitations.

According to research, despite the introduction of rice shipment limits, India's rice exports increased by more than 15% year on year to a record $11.1 billion in FY23 and 22 million tonnes (MT) in volume.

On Friday, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) announced the withdrawal of 2,000 currency notes from circulation. The central bank stated in a press statement that this is being done in accordance with its "Clean Note Policy."

Here are five key things from the RBI statement:

(1). The RBI stated that the 2,000 note will continue to be legal tender, which means it will be accepted in the settlement of an obligation. The bank also imposed a time restriction for withdrawing the note from circulation. It requested that customers exchange them at banks before September 30.

(2). The window for exchanging 2,000 notes will start on May 23, as the RBI wants to give banks time to prepare. The ability to swap 2,000 notes will also be accessible at the RBI's 19 regional offices.

(3). There is a limit of 2,000 bank notes that can be exchanged. According to the RBI, customers can exchange up to 20,000 at a time. They can also contact a Business Correspondent (BC), which is an extension of a bank branch that provides financial and banking services in unbanked and underbanked regions. In this example, the daily maximum is 4,000.

(4). It is also not essential to be a bank customer to exchange soon-to-be-discontinued currencies. A non-account holder can exchange up to 20,000 banknotes at a time at any bank branch.

(5). The RBI reiterated that there is no cost for using the exchange function. Banks have also been directed to make procedures to minimize trouble for the elderly and those with special needs who want to exchange or deposit 2,000 banknotes.

According to a UN report, the 'World Economic Situation and Prospects as of Mid-2023,' India's economy is expected to grow by 6.7 percent in calendar year 2024, supported by resilient domestic demand, while higher interest rates and weaker external demand will continue to weigh on investment and exports this year. The largest economy in South Asia, India, is anticipated to grow by 5.8 percent in 2023 and 6.7 percent in 2024 (on a calendar-year basis). According to a survey, inflation in India is likely to decrease to 5.5 percent in 2023 as global commodity prices moderate and currency depreciation slows, reducing imported inflation.

On 4th April, At Bedi (Jamnagar Port), another rig flotation operation was completed successfully by a subcontractor of Octopus Cargo Care.

When it comes to movement or long-distance shifting, the wet tow method has its own challenges, higher cost, and is time-consuming, dry two or say carrying such sea giant on a semi-submerged vessel with the method of float on and float off operation is proven to be the right choice.

Such knowledge and infrastructure are not common in India, but in recent months offshore activities have become more obvious and in demand; now, in addition to petroleum, wind farms, and other offshore operations may soon begin to expand at an Indian cost.
On the west coast of Bombay High and nearby gulfs such as the Gulf of Khambhat, such exploration activities are being carried out, in which ONGC has a larger share. Recently, one of the MNC Rig operators was required to enter such Indian economic activity under their contractual agreement, for which it was required to mobilize two MODU RIG Admarine 9 and Admarine 10, under dry tow method from their respective origin. The optimum location for such float-off operations on the west coast is near Bedi Port in Jamnagar. So the operation took conducted at that specific offshore site from March 22nd to April 4th.

HLV Seaway Osprey and HLV Red ZED 1 carried both rigs to Bedi, with all professionals from various stack holders including Govt Authority, Agent, Sub agents, Supplier, Surveyor, Crew team, MWS, working in tight coordination. The float off procedure was completed successfully, and the rig was subsequently towed to its ultimate location using wet tow operations with the appropriate pulling tugs.

M/s. Octopus Cargo Care has assisted the operation as an agent and consultant who has already gained competence in handling several offshore projects on the West coast, including as the Sagar Samrat, Sagar Ratna, and Rig Prabhu Gas exploration projects. M/s. Octopus Cargo Care ( www.octopuscargocare.com) operates from the Port of Pipavav and has extensive coverage on the west coast.
