Safe travels John, and well done to the team involved.

A very welcome sight… ❤️

We were very happy to see passenger John Mullen return to Dublin Airport this morning, 12 days after he suffered a cardiac arrest in Pier 4.

John was reunited today with Paramedics Ciaran Foster and Peadar Edgar, from our Fire & Rescue team, and Aaron Crampton from Airport Police, who responded to the incident on the day.

Aaron took the call in Airport Police control at 06.30 that morning and initiated a response. Ciaran and Peadar were straight on the scene in Terminal 2 and carried out advanced life support procedures on Mr Mullen including seven defibrillation shocks and managed to get John’s heart beating effectively once again.

After a spell in hospital, John returned to the airport today to travel home to the United States and met with the three men who saved him.

Safe travels, John!

After 36 incredible years of service, tomorrow marks the retirement of Philip "Spitfire" Maguire from the Dublin Airport Police & Fire and Rescue Service. Since joining in 1989, Philip has been a pillar of dedication, courage, and camaraderie — always ready to protect and serve with heart and humour.

Outside the uniform, Philip’s passions are just as legendary. Whether he's soaring the skies in his light airplane or cruising the streets in his lovingly preserved retired Dublin bus, he brings the same spirit of adventure and care to everything he does.

Wishing Philip blue skies, smooth roads, and endless joy in this next chapter. You’ve earned every moment. ✈️🚌

Thank you Philip

After 39 years of service, Dave Collopy retires this Saturday from the Dublin Airport Fire Service and the Airport Police — a true pillar of safety and dedication since 20th October 1986.

From the days of handwritten logs to high-tech terminals, Dave has been a constant presence through Dublin Airport’s evolution. His career spanned:

🛫 The opening of Terminal 2 in 2010, a major leap in passenger capacity and design

🔥 Emergency responses including aircraft incidents, fuel spills, and fire drills — where Dave’s calm leadership saved lives

👮‍♂️ Operations during major global events, including heightened alerts post-9/11 and the 2012 London Olympics, Countless diversions and medicial calls.

✈️ Welcoming new airlines and routes, including the rise of transatlantic travel and Dublin’s status as a U.S. preclearance hub

🎉 Milestones like Dublin Airport’s 85th anniversary in 2025, marking its journey from grass runways to global gateway

Dave’s legacy isn’t just in the stats — it’s in the mentorship he gave, the camaraderie he built, and the countless passengers who passed safely under his watch. He was always there for any rank or service to pass on his cool calm view.

Enjoy your well earned retirement with your family and friends, Dave. You’ve earned every moment and we will miss you.
