Killala Community Council (Newstart) working for the people of Killala and surrounding areas

Supported by the Department of Rural and Community Development and Pobal through the Community Services Programme Main Object:
To establish, promote and operate community development programmes which will act as a focus and catalyst for community development for the community of Killala and the surroundin

g areas in the County of Mayo with a view to promoting their social, economic and cultural welfare and to empower disadvantaged groups including the elderly and those affected by rural isolation to effectively participate in a programme of personal and social development. This will be achieved by the company managing, operating and promoting Killala Community Centre for the benefit of the entire community and by providing facilities for recreational; social; educational & cultural activities and by developing the Centre as a base to provide quality family & community support services, as well as carrying out other community development projects in the community. Objectives:
1: To address the Needs of our Main Target Group - The Elderly living in the Killala area
2: To address the lack of Public Transport
3: To address the lack of Community and Sporting Facilities in the area
4: To address the issue of Rural Isolation
5: Training Provision

We are officially entered into this years Tidy Towns competition and that means getting on top of keeping our beautiful town clean of litter and also carrying out any other jobs that need doing !
We are going to start this coming Wednesday 7pm , meeting at the Community Centre car park !
We can supply litter pickers bags and gloves! if you have half an hour to spare we would
love to see you ! everyone is welcome ! more people less work !! Spread the word and share !
