Save Greystones Fishing Fleet Help support the Fishing Community in Greystones to preserve the heritage of fishing in our town, and Please feel free to get in touch! Thank you.

Greystones has a long and unbroken tradition as a fishing community since before the historical record began until the commencement of development of the harbour in 2007. Fishing has long been a way of life and source of income and food for local families. Unfortunately, this is now under threat as a combination of factors mean that fishermen and their boats are currently being prohibited from ret

urning to fish out of Greystones harbour due to untenable conditions, fees, restraints and privatisation of the public amenity. We have repeatedly requested Wicklow County Council to provide workable facilities for the inshore fishing boats that were promised to the community at the outset of the development. We would like to raise awareness of this situation in our community and to ask for your support to keep fishing boats in Greystones where they belong. We hope this page can let you know who we are, what we do, the history of our fisheries and what we need in order to continue to fish in Greystones. We take much pride in the traditions of the community before us and in the resourcefulness and kindness of those still around us. We are young, local families, with small businesses trying to make a living and create jobs. Despite opposition, we believe that fishing can continue to grow in the town, and we feel that if we do not make a stand to preserve this existing industry and heritage now, it will be gone for good.
