The dust has now settled on our COMPASS Schools Competition and what a day it was for students of the five schools that made it to this year's final.
Our theme, 'Connecting our Future', was all about how Shannon Foynes Port and the Shannon Estuary will play such a key role in the future of this region and further beyond as it strengthens our national logistics supply chain and becomes a leading international renewable energy hub for harvesting our limitless wind energy off the Atlantic seaboard.
Congrats to all the students who participated, from
Coláiste Chiaráin, Croom (Winners)
Laurel Hill Secondary School
Salesian College, Pallaskenry
Coláiste Íde & Iosef
St. Joseph's Secondary School, Spanish Point
and, of course, to the winners, Coláiste Chiaráin, Croom, Co. Limerick, whose winning film "Sorry to Interrupt" and presentation won them a €5,000 cheque for their school, an iPad for each student and sailing experience with Yacht Club.
It was a day that had it all - a packed house at the Foynes Flying Boat & Maritime Museum, brilliant film making, compelling presentations, imaginative costumes, great props (including a week old calf!!!) and a soundtrack form Coláiste Chiaráin, which we felt would be a fitting backdrop for our recap video.
Well done everyone!
