Thanks Donegal Railway Heritage Museum for sharing this photo.
One of the locals mentioned in the original post that it might be on the Falcarragh side of Cashelnagor. From the topography of the surrounding land I’d say the same. I wonder if the original has a higher resolution and is the station house visible in the distance?

Wouldn’t it be lovely if a photo showed up of the train stopped in front of Cashelnagor Station.

Another day working through the archives and I came across this very striking cab window view of Mt. Errigal from the Willie McGowan collection.

By my estimation it seems to be near Lough Trusk, after Cashelnagore and heading towards Gweedore.

A nice drone shot of Cashelnagor Station, County Donegal, taken by ourselves as part of our ongoing arial survey of key railway sites across the County this August. Such an isolated by truly outstanding setting in the heart of Donegal. A lovely restoration too🙂🚂

🏆We are delighted to announce that Cashelnagor Railway Station has been shortlisted for a ‘National Railway Heritage’ award.🏆

The ceremony is taking place in Merchant Taylors’ Hall in London next Tuesday at 11am. The awards will be presented by the HRH The Duke of Gloucester, and it will be streamed live on the day at https://awards2022.nrha.org.uk. It is great to be recognised for the work that we did to restore the Station House, and we are looking forward to attending the award ceremony.
