As part of Iarnród Éireann’s first Anti-Slavery Week taking place from 12th – 16th October, the Supply Chain Sustainability School will host an important webinar on modern slavery and labour exploitation on Friday 16th October from 11:00hrs – 12:00hrs. This session will provide valuable insights and practical resources to help tackle modern slavery and is open to all to register and attend.

Produced by Abú Media, episode 3, airs this evening at 9pm on TG4. Sharing the story of the Great Southern and Western Railway from Dublin to Cork, which was constructed between 1845 and 1849, became a backbone of Ireland’s railway network.

Bhronn Pat Callan an pianó go fial flaithiúil mar chomóradh ar a bhean chéile, Treasa, nach maireann, chun a grá don cheol a roinnt le cuairteoirí agus le pobal na Gaillimhe go ceann i bhfad.

Athchóiríodh an pianó ag an tiúnóir pianó agus coimeádaí pianónna poiblí, John Murphy Murphy Piano Tuning and Repair , agus phéinteáil an maisitheoir agus dearthóir grafach, Rachelle O'Regan Artist, é. Tá an dearadh spreagtha ag seanscéal na Gaillimhe. Iarnród Éireann has unveiled a new public piano at Ceannt Station, Galway, as part of the weekend’s Culture Night 2026 celebrations.

The piano was generously donated by Pat Callan in memory of his late wife, Treasa, to spread her love for music to visitors and the wider Galway community for years to come.

Restored by piano Tuner and public piano curator, John Murphy Murphy Piano Tuning and Repair and painted by illustrator and graphic designer, Rachelle O'Regan Artist, the design is inspired by the ancient story of Gaillimh. The artwork depicts the daughter of the legendary chief Breasail, weaving together Galway’s mythology, landscape and sense of place.

Marking the piano’s first official performance, musicians Emer O'Flaherty Music and Philip Fogarty performed at the station, joined by Treasa’s brother Peter Brogan and Cousin Denis Green, in tribute to her memory
