There were smiles all round as daa presented cheques totalling €315,000 to three great Irish charities, following a 12-month programme of fundraising activities across our businesses, including Dublin and Cork airports.
The incredible fundraising efforts of staff and passengers mean that the three charities – The Alzheimer Society of Ireland, Cork Life Centre and Ronald McDonald House Charities - have each received a cheque worth €105,000.
The three charities were selected by daa staff as their Charities of the Year programme for 2023.
Since 2007, daa’s charity programme has raised over €3.7 million for 33 different charities. That number will now rise further, with 3 new charities selected for the 2024 Charity of the Year programme.
Following a rigorous selection process over recent months, daa employees have voted to support A Little Lifetime Foundation, Cliona's Foundation and Cork Penny Dinners in 2024.

It was a busy start to the year at Dublin Airport with 2.1 million passengers going through our terminals.
The month of January saw 16,800 flights arrive and take off at Dublin Airport, with an average load factor of 78%. Departing passengers enjoyed a smooth experience in the month with 98% passing through security in under 20 minutes.
According to Kenny Jacobs, CEO of daa: "The cold and dreary weather in Ireland during January saw thousands opting to escape to warmer surroundings. For holidaymakers, flights to the Canaries proved popular during the month, while routes to central and eastern Europe were also very busy as thousands headed to ski slopes. The start to 2024 also saw a strong flow of business passengers. January presented some challenging weather conditions, with both freezing temperatures and disruptive storms. I want to thank our snow and ice teams who continue to expertly deal with the vagaries of the winter weather, ensuring passengers can get on their way.
"The number of passengers through Dublin Airport in January was on a par with 2023 levels. Numbers through Dublin Airport could obviously be higher, but daa continues to manage passenger levels to ensure the airport does not exceed the 32 million cap on the number of passengers who can travel through the airport's two terminals," added Jacobs.

Dublin Airport's new deal with bus operators will mean 35 million+ bus seats are available to passengers every year, providing more choice than ever before.
From March onwards, more than 1,000 buses will depart Dublin Airport every single day, increasing to 1,200 in 2025.
These significant improvements to the bus offering at Dublin Airport come after daa recently submitted exciting plans for an improved Ground Transportation Centre as part of its Infrastructure Application to Fingal County Council.
The new centre, to be located between the airport's two terminals and close to the space reserved at the airport for a future metro stop, will include toilets, retail outlets, seating and sheltered waiting areas.

Great news for passengers travelling with pets! Our new pet screening facility is now open, meaning animals can once again travel in the aircraft hold when flying out of Dublin Airport. The facility is available to passengers travelling from both T1 and T2. 🐶
Passengers should contact their airline in advance of travel for advice on travelling with an animal. When you reach Dublin Airport, proceed to your designated check-in area, in either terminal, to complete the check in process. Airline staff will advise you on the process from there.
