Its not all about commerce......sometimes it's just about lending a hand.

Forwarding & Logistics brings us into contact daily with many interesting and sometimes inspiring people from all over the world. Case in point is Dr Carl Niamatali of The Guyana Cancer prevention Society in South America.

Dr Niamatali is the director of a very unique NGO based in Georgetown, Guyna, whos mission is to promote cancer awareness to the general public, provide health based education on ways to prevent cancer, and establish a screening program to detect cancer early and with curative treatment increase survival rates among indigenous peoples of the Amazon Rain Forest.

Dr Niamatali is also an oncology specialist with the Bon Secours Hospital in Galway who generously donated several items of medical equipment for Dr Niamatalis cause. One of those items was a large endoscopy machine used for detecting certain types of cancers.

Atlas was asked to lend some support & help Dr Niamatali with the transfer of this equipment to Georgetown in Guyana.

Duly we obliged and with the help of Lynx Transport in Galway, ( who did an excellent job and took particular care and attention with this shipment ) we had the Endoscope retrieved from the hospital, brought to our warehouse for packing, crating and final dispatch to Guyana via Miami by air cargo.

It was our pleasure and a privilege to be a part of the efforts being made by this NGO to help indigenous people in this very special part of the world and we wish Dr Carl continued luck and success in his work.

Dear David ,

Thanks ever so much for your kind and most generous assistance to the NGO and the people of the Amazon Rain Forest in Guyana South America.

Climate Change is an imminent threat to the planet, and the Amazon Rain Forest is the last hope of reducing & mitigating the impact of Climate change with all its dire consequences.
The people of the Amazon Rain Forest ARF are the custodians of the ARF, if we do not reach out and care for them we cannot expect them to protect the ARF.

This is why this is such an important project,and I thank you & your company for this generous help, you are now a part of this solution to prevent Climate Change

Co-Operative Logistics: When Co-Operation truly is global.

Q: What happens when a valued client proposes a challenging cross trade shipment......??
A: You call your friends !!

When our Irish client requested assistance with moving 2 Boeing 737 Engines from Lagos in Nigeria to Northern Illinois, USA, we knew we had colleagues based locally that had the knowledge and expertise required to safely and professionally execute this shipment.

Within hours of the shipment been given a green light, local agents United Redox Corp in Nigeria were on site to inspect the shipment before loading onto freighter aircraft for the journey to Chicago via Paris, France.

On arrival at Chicago airport, GEF INC ( Global Express Forwarding ) were ready and waiting to process this shipment through a complicated customs procedure and facilitate trucking to the end user.

This shipment was a perfect example of how co-operation with trusted overseas partners is essential in logistics & forwarding.

When Logistics Meets Charity.....

In Autumn of last year we were approached by Mr James Duggan, a Cork man, who was looking for some assistance with a very special shipment.

James is a founder member of a small charitable organisation called 'Village17', that was set up when James witnessed first hand the poverty that young orphaned children live with in some of the remotest and poorest villages in Thailand, far from the sandy beaches and bustling tourist resorts.

Moved by what he had seen, James was determined to help in some small way, and on returning to Cork made plans to organise a shipment of clothing, footwear and toys for the children in these communities. Following a huge response from a Cork wide appeal for unwanted toys and clothing, the task now was how to get the donations from Cork to Thailand !!

When we heard of the nature of the shipment, and the reasons for it, we were more than eager to help and offered our services as a small contribution to James' very generous and selfless endeavor.

James can be seen in the photo below with children of the 'Anti Trafficking & Child Abuse Center in Chonburi, and also some of the younger children with their new rain gear and wellies!!

As we understand it, James fully intends to undertake another shipment of aid next winter, and we're already looking forward to helping out again.

Earlier this month Atlas was proud to help with an extremely important shipment from the USA....
When urgent engine repairs were required for team ECD NY during the Olympus Trail Rally 2017, Atlas stepped in to organise expedited air transport between Seattle, USA and the United Kingdom. After repairs were carried out, the engine was then flown back to the US just in time for the team to compete and finish comfortably in the top three, placing them in a very good position to finish in the top three overall of the American Rally Association Championships 2017.
