A very unusual rescue yesterday in Roaringwater Bay!
Spotted this magnificent leatherback turtle in trouble in the water and quickly realised it was entangled and at real risk of drowning.
Getting him free was far trickier than it might look, but staying calm and working carefully paid off. After some tense moments, the turtle was finally released from the entanglement and swam away strongly.
An incredible animal to encounter in West Cork waters — and a rescue we certainly won’t forget in a hurry!
