South Coast Logistics was delighted to welcome a group of young women from Loreto Secondary School, Fermoy along with Genevieve, one of their SNA’s and Edward Crowley, Acceleration Programme Facilitator from See my Skills.
See My Skills in Cork empowers neurodivergent individuals and people with physical disabilities to build skills, confidence, and access meaningful education and
employment opportunities.
It supports people with neurodivergence and/or physical disabilities through tailored programs that enhance life and career skills, aiming to create a more inclusive society where everyone has fair access to learning and work opportunities.
The group were given a talk by Barry Daly (SHEQ Manager at SCL) assisted by Claire Murphy and Karolina Wozniak from the HR Team.
The students heard first hand from two of the company’s apprentices, Geraldine Hartnett and Sean Duffy about the apprenticeship journey that they are on, and how the company has and continues to support them through the programme.
They were given a tour of the facility, where the high light was most definitely a spin in one of our trucks around the depot! At the end of the tour and visit, there was a Q&A session, and everyone was treated the pizza.
This group of secondary students participated in a 4-day programme through See my Skills, which ended with a site visit to SCL, where we offered insights into workplace inclusivity and the support systems available. These students hopefully ended their week on a high, feeling confident and empowered that there is a bright future for them in the workplace!
