UPGRADE: **WEATHER WARNING**
TIMELINE: SATURDAY 21ST OCTOBER 2017.
AREA: COASTAL MUNSTER, STH LEINSTER, COASTAL CONNACHT
We have now upgraded from "alert" to "warning" meaning and clear away any loose fittings in properties. Further disruption to power, transport and travel plans can be expected in Orange advisory counties.
The main concern now is softened soils due to heavy rains in combination with weakened root systems on trees could lead to further hazards over the course of Saturday. Another concern is localised flooding due to heavy precipitation within the storm system. Coastal flooding may take place at high tides.
We would urge the public to take extreme care on Saturday.
****MET EIREANN HAVE UPGRADED THE FOLLOWING COUNTIES TO ORANGE ADVISORY****
Wexford, Waterford, Cork, Kerry, Clare, Galway and Mayo.
We expect winds to reach storm force to violent storm force along the Connacht coast with gusts in excess of 125kmh with a risk of storm surges along our western, southern and south eastern seaboard.
Elsewhere we expect winds gusting 80kmh to 110kmh.
***Repairs to electricity and water supplies will be disrupted in some areas at the weekend***
Please stay up to date with local and national weather forecasts between now and Saturday.
