As part of Bike Week, participants joined the Clontarf Cycle & Dip and the Sandymount to Seapoint Cycle & Swim for two brilliant community events 🚴‍♀️ 🌊

There was a great atmosphere from the start, with people of all ages arriving solo, with friends, and even pets. Along the routes, there were chats, laughs, and plenty of moments to simply enjoy the fresh air and good company.

Both cycles finished with a refreshing sea swim, and for many, it was their very first dip in the Irish Sea!

The events highlighted Bike Week’s message of active travel, wellbeing, sustainability, and community connection ♻️

Ellen Walshe continues to raise the bar 🔥

Already holding five Irish Senior LC records across Freestyle, Butterfly and IM, she’s now delivered a huge personal best of 2:10.88 in the 200m Backstroke at the AP Race International in London for silver— the second-fastest time ever by an Irish woman, just 0.13 outside Melanie Nocher’s national record (2:10.75).

Well done Ellen 👏

On Saturday, Swim Ireland hosted its inaugural Open Water Conference at the Hudson Bay Hotel in Athlone!

Speakers on the day included representatives from Leave No Trace, the HSE Skin Cancer Prevention Team, and Water Safety Ireland, alongside an inspiring presentation from Daragh Morgan, who made history last year as the first person to swim around Ireland.

In the afternoon, participants took to the waters of Lough Ree, where Swim Ireland coach and tutor Corinna Nolan led an open water session, sharing practical guidance and expert tips.
Thanks to all who attended, we look forward to seeing you across the Summer.
