Swim Ireland Swim Ireland is the National Governing Body for all aquatic sports on the island of Ireland

Swim Ireland is the National Governing Body for swimming, water polo, diving and synchronised swimming across the 32 counties of the island of Ireland. We are recognised as such by the Department of Tourism, Transport, Sport and the Arts, through Sport Ireland and Sport Northern Ireland. We are recognised at world level by FINA and at European level by LEN. Swim Ireland exists to encourage partici

pation in aquatics, develop excellence and regulate our sport. We are a non-profit organisation, working closely with volunteers to achieve our missions. Swim Ireland has over 18,000 members and more than 160 affiliated clubs in every county across all four provinces. We offer a range of ‘Learn to Swim’ programmes to pool centres throughout the island of Ireland. In particular, the ‘Child Learn to Swim’ programme, which rewards children who achieve the objectives of the programme with a range of Certificates and Badges. Swim Ireland also offers an extensive range of aquatic qualifications, like Swimming Teacher and Swimming Coach.

Swim Ireland is thrilled to be announced as an awardee of the Disability Participation and Awareness Fund 4.0!

The funding awarded will support the expansion of the Swim Access Project, allowing Swim Ireland to roll out the initiative nationwide and target 100 swimming pools over the next year.

The Swim Access Project is a collaborative initiative that places accessibility at its heart, operating through a structured, disability-led design approach to improve accessibility in public swimming pools.

Since its inception, the cross-sector partnership has brought together National Governing Bodies, Disability Organisations, Local Authorities, and people with lived experience of disability, all committed to a shared rights-based approach.

Swim Ireland would like to thank Minister for Children, Disability and Equality, Norma Foley TD, Minister of State Emer Higgins TD, as well as Rethink Ireland, which is managing the fund on behalf of the Department of Children, Disability and Equality.
