As part of the refit on this beautiful Spirit Yachts sailing yacht, the deck is being carefully prepared for a new teak installation.

We laminated the surface with 163 g/m² rowing fabric and epoxy resin, followed by peel ply to create the perfect bonding surface for the teak deck that will follow.

This step ensures maximum adhesion, durability and a flawless finish — the foundation of a deck built to last.

True yacht craftsmanship starts beneath the surface.

This bow thruster motor came to us completely submerged and heavily corroded.
Step by step we brought it back to life:

Removed and inspected
Fully dismantled
Sandblasted to remove corrosion
Protected with marine-grade coating

As we sail north from Dubrovnik for our cruise of the Croatian coast, a final word on the folks who worked on our boat is in order.

Tom Mendeš and his team at Marinefokus YACHT Service Dubrovnik did fantastic work for us.

The prices for the components we had installed were totally in line with prices for those parts elsewhere in Europe.

The labor rates and hours for the various jobs were completely appropriate and fair.

The final price came in within 10% of the estimate despite it being a big big project over many months.

The quality of the work was impeccable. Truly, the work they did looks like it was original to the boat or better.

They are able to handle the complexities of VAT relief for a vessel-in-transit, which is a major advantage for a non-EU vessel.

They have a chandlery so they can get most any part needed for outfitting.

They have a strong network of partner contractors for work they don’t do themselves.

And the whole team are helpful, friendly, and a pleasure to work with.

All in all they made a big, complex outfitting project about as painless and low stress as a boat project can be.
